The airdrop is a net negative to Illuvium. It’s creating artificial playing numbers with ‘airdrop vultures’ who will be off to the next game as soon as another game offers up larger rewards.
You can already see the negative sentiment in this channel from airdrop hunters who have played a lot of hours and now feel entitled to larger rewards.
Linking an extrinsic motivator like money to play time just focused people on the money, not the game, and as soon as their monetary expectations are not met, or you don’t continue to increase rewards, they will be gone. How is this helping us build a sustainable ecosystem long term? And every token we provide to those airdrop vultures is another that will be sold on the market, diluting token holders.
It’s also taken a community that have followed the game for 2-3 years and turned a portion of them into playing for money, not for fun.
