#Fix master-shard

the thing with master shards is that it should be "too much". You're not supposed to use them unless it's a really really rare illuvial.
But with broken odds and being unable to catch some Illuvials they are kinda needed if you're playing a lot of Stage 3 travels...
I personally find 800 to be in a great spot. If we are careful how we spend our mastery points in game and have drone upgrades we very rarely need master shards now with the reworked odds
I find myself able to passively craft more mastershards than i need to by just shooting some rocks while hunting
Not reworked odds but non-broken odds.
They were reworked yes
Massive problem is that we now while testing are just rocking in Stage 3 the whole time. That's not realistic once the game goes live. It will be very different store then.
I dont see it as a problem per se, but sure not everyone will only do that when it will be real money
Odds are better than they used to a bit and we also have multiple tries so overall it is very likely we catch anything and if we dont, great! Its fun to not have auto catch
If you do want to auto catch it better be worth the price because if not your rhamphy just did you -$
I don't really agree. We leave in this monopoly world where we have everything.
Once we go live. There won't be infinite amount of shards, there won't be infinite amount of consumables.
Imagine going to Stage 3 and seeing a Tier 5 Stage 1 Illuvial.
You have to have a good team to beat it, you have to have shards that are pretty hard to get and pretty expensive, you have to have good consumables to win. And then you win with like 140 Mastery Points left and you have 3 tries to try and catch your Tier 5 Illuvial. With good and expensive Tier 5 drone upgrades you have like 80% of catching it.
Just imaging this 20%....
Without monopoly money it's so different. (or maybe I'm just poor so I see things differently)
Don't make them auto catch. Reward good play, reward having 3 tries to catch something, reward having drone upgrades...
it takes about 2 x S3 mining runs to craft a master shard. sounds ok to me
I just tried two S3 mining runs and I have 336 Shard dust after that 🤔
edit: to be fair, the run wasn't optimized, extract is costing me 95 energy, every run I entered one encounter. but the run was realistic...
I must be crazy but I would increase it to 1000 shard dusts.
yea i use -40%, and focus on lazurite first then the geodynes
i like that, with the reduction in fuel cost to cure shards, it focus more on sweat
Well, supposedly I’m not lucky and I rarely get tier 5, and holo once couldn’t catch 20% on a shard in front of the master and I’ve never seen the norms of illuvials again, and the price of a master is outside the borders, you need at least 500 would be nice
omg you crazy man...😵💫
yes I am, I also think master shards should be saved for extremely rare captures and you have to think twice before using one.
currently I'm only using master shards for T5S3's and T5S2's and some rare dark holos if I'm out of MP
There should be a system in Place where you get dust if you fail a capture and the shard breaks. Also I would prefer it if you could craft other kinds of shards with dust too. And the biggest problem I have with all this is that the Vision is to Appeal to web 2 gamers so the game will grow to a big playerbase. Imagine those people coming in, they love Pokémon and other creature collectors in web 2 and then they see very high prices or insane grinds because things are so rare. Most People only have 2 hours to play after work and I think this will be the hardest challenge to make the game Appeal to those players. Would love to hear your thoughts on that guys and how to balance it for long term success of Illuvium with that in mind.
I like the idea of getting some dust on a failed capture.
I have a hard enough time trying to get friends to give this a try while it's free... I don't feel like anyone I know will be able to afford to play it once it's live.
even on testnet i have to check the illuvial price to see if its worth it
i dnt see web2 coming until bull peak for the insane gainz. we should focus on web3
I don´t think thats what web2 gamers want. Most of the web2 gamers I talked to don´t care for insane gains or earning money in general in gaming. They even were turned off by that. What I hear very often is "I go to work for my money and when I game after work I don´t wanna think about money". Some of them say that they get the concept of NFTs and even like the fact that you can take your assets to different games. Thats a first step. So its very important now to balance catch rates, master shard costs, grinding time and rarity so more people will enjoy the game. I remember the times of the Diablo 3 real money auction house. The good stuff was so rare that the average gamer only saw stuff they would never get on the auction house and so they left and the game died until they got rid of it. The game was simply not fun. I hope Illuvium finds a good balance there and then maybe web2 gamers will come. That were just some thoughts I had the last weeks while playing testnet.
RMAH was a wild time in gaming history haha - D3 definitely created a combination problem, where it was too uncommon to find the thing you needed, so sitting on the AH was optimal gameplay. In softcore (with real money), that essentially meant pay up or don't have good gear (or be like kripp and do some wild 4 player goblin hunting), but even in hardcore the best way to play was to farm a little gold, then flip items on the AH by min bidding auctions until you could afford something good.
I dunno if I ever found something relevant for my own character, which was at least half the problem with the D3 AH system in general. I think it often got attributed to RMAH, but it was at least partially attributable to poor design decisions, and balancing the game around someone building their character over the course of YEARS instead of the days or weeks most people will actually play a game for.
that section of web2 will only come if the web3 game is much better than the web2 counterpart
I agree with @foggy nebula here. The web3 component is the fundamental selling point. And it needs to start making people rich to get attention.
yea the project need to focus on 1 market, because web2 and web3 market are entirely different.
part of web2 despise an aspect of crypto games that actually attracts web3 market.
there is an opposite view there.
there is no way not to think about money when playing crypto games.
even with the fuel system u need to be aware of eth price in usd and fuel price in eth.
passport is suppose to make onboarding easier.
ive spent some time in crypto and i can say that passport is far from easy
its confusing af, even in crypto standard
another issue is the multi-currency of the marketplace, i mean why would a web2 player want to deal with multiple currency? they just want to play a game not majoring in crypto
there was narrative to get rid of the "crypto element" from ILV, i just cant see it
The resplendent shards gave me 27% chance three times trying to bag an Octius... why bother. Accumulating 800 dust is milking players way too much. Thank goodness its just test ETH.
i succeeded with 30% chance once
