#Having more to do in Overworld

I have only been playing for a few hours, but there isn't much to do.

The world is beautiful but the crystals are so far apart. It's super hard to collect shards to collect illuvium. Without shards, there is no point to fighting illuviums because you can't capture them. So basically you just roam around for hours trying to find crystals, but they are very hard to find.

I'm okay with grinding but you need to be able to see some progress. Kind of like driving, people don't mind driving longer distances if they are moving, but stuck in traffic not moving is the worst. Right now it kind of feels like you aren't moving much.

My suggestions are:

  1. Give Illuviums levels, so that you fight even without shards or trying to capture. Kind of like every creature capturing game, leveling creatures is kind of a given but it gives you something to do. Before evolving they need a certain level. Honestly I'm not sure you even need to make the stats that much different between the levels, but it gives you something to do.

  2. Put more crystals out there, and make it easier to collect them. You can lower the capturing rate, but at least you are fighting more and attempting to capture more. I'd rather it be easier to find crystals and it take more to actually create shards. Then it feels like the hours grinding I was doing something. Right now I'm just flying around, which is cool but after a few hours it's all the same.

  3. Or increase the number needed to upgrade if you are worrying about too many illuviums being captured. For instance you have 3 to evolve the first level, but then increase to 5 to evolve a second time and so forth. Or make it even higher. I'd rather be collecting more shards, fighting more and capturing more. It wouldn't bother me if it took way more to evolve. At least you feel like you are moving forward.

Or maybe I can only access the first levels right now and hopefully the higher levels have more crystals/shards to find.

Yeah I am using both. It's a test and so I got some free resources and tried a stage 1 instead of a stage 0. Sure you find a bit more, but I searched for 20 mins and got two materials that would require fuel to make shards. I'm sure when I try higher stages that you will get more, but still that's a lot of grinding and a lot of resources to get shards to then maybe try and capture an illuvium.

#

What I am saying is that you will be spending the vast majority of your time just searching for materials instead of actually fighting and using your illuviums. Like in other creature capture games, sure you have to pick up resources, but you are spending way more time in the actual fighting and using those creatures.

When the game comes out, for people like me who have multiple lands, getting the fuel won't be a problem. But imagine someone who doesn't want to pay much, or this game is suppose to be "play to earn", so you should be able to play for free. How many hours would it take that person to collect shards on level 0 to actually then get the opportunity to then try and catch some illuvium.

Even when the game comes out and if you have land and are not worrying about fuel. It still seems like you are spending the vast majority of your time collecting resources rather than fighting. I like creature capturing games, like pokemon. I played chainmonsters (which went down and apparently is coming back) for hours just grinding away levels and capturing monsters. I'm playing Tarochi right now, and would play more if the transaction time was a bit smoother. I tend to grind games, but I'd rather be spending more time in fights than searching the land for resources

Just thought of one thing, why not have it if you fight an illuvium but don't try and capture you get resources as a reward. Since you only have so much energy when you enter a level it's not like you can collect infinite resources to create shards. But it'll give you incentive to hunt illuviums and do battles over just plain resource gathering.

  1. Illuvials already have a leveling system and they do need a certain amount of exp to be fused.

  2. thats fair. I guess some enjoy jumping and gliding through the map and hopefully find a top tier illuvial, while others just want to enter the region and shoot illuvials from where they are without any movement at all. At the moment to me feels like a middle ground between the 2 extremes. My average run for example is like 15 min, fastest probably arround 7-8 min. Try using the heatmap, and learn fast movements, theres plenty of videos covering it.

  3. It's the exp needed to fuse which increases massively if you wana fuse a stage 3 illuvial compared to a stage 2 illuvial.

Thanks for the info. I obviously haven't been playing for long enough to fuse illuvials.

  1. I do think knowing that there are levels I'll try fighting more, but to fuse them, how much fuel and/or resources do you need?
  2. Honestly if you own multiple land this is probably not going to be a problem, as you will do higher stages and then get material a lot faster and use fuel to create shards
  3. But when it's not test mode, besides those with land (and really multiple lands) who will be paying for all of this fuel? For this game to work, you are going to need it to be fun for those at multiple levels of playing capability but also multiple levels of income. You can't have it so that to get shards you kind of need fuel, that will basically take out all the people who are not going to put money or very little money into this game.

My originally point was it seems like it's very hard to get shards and that I'm doing a lot more searching for resources rather than fighting illuvium.

I do need to play more and try more things out.

Thanks for the advice. I'll post more later, as I'm trying to understand what's missing. Open beta launch with leader board usually causes an increase in the token value.

The 3 different maps are quite different in how easy it is to locate rocks to find shards and other materials. There's between 85-100 per map, and by far the easiest one to find them is Crimson Waste as it's the smallest one due to the design mostly consisting of tunnels. (Remember to check the walls and roof as well as rocks can spawn everywhere).

I think ore drops are fine. But they're rather random.

One run might be awesome and full of shard loot, another might be meh.

But shard farming on stage 3 is in a good spot especially with the new spawns on walls now.
