Simple Summary
Illuvium Beyond Tower (IBT) is a roguelike deck-building card game that features Illuvial NFTs, Illuvitar NFTs, and Illuvitar Accessories NFTs. Players embark on a journey to ascend the tower by navigating randomly generated levels and engaging in turn-based combat against enemies and bosses. They acquire new cards as rewards for every normal encounter and upgrade cards for every defeated boss, requiring strategic deck-building to construct an effective deck able to climb the IBT. The game aims to be an immersive and gamified Beyond D1sk opening experience.

I still haven’t gone through the whole thing but I like the idea. Will take the time to read the whole thing. Would an abandon and mistery crashed spaceship be better suited for lore?

I want to emphasize that even if this isn't the game we end up creating, I strongly believe that what Beyond needs is a gamified D1sk opening experience, rather than just a TCG.

Would like to get the Pre Planning Genre Research Documentation as defined in IIP 44 before seeing game pitches. We need to see the market research before we start suggesting ideas in governance ideas forums.

Love to see it in the feedback-ideas forum and could see a market for it but hard to gauge compared to other genres

As for the genre, Beyond will most likely end up being a card game. So I don't really see the need for the Pre Planning Genre Research Documentation. But even if we already had the plan why couldn't I suggest a game that is totally opposite from what the market research would suggest? That's the role of the IMC to decide on that, and it has nothing to do with the ability of the community to submit a game pitch.

# faint cove Well that's up to the team, as per IIP 44. And I wouldn't have submitted the gam...

I completely understand posting here if you feel that the IMC is already pushing Johnny's idea forward and want yours heard officially. Especially when you feel strongly about your game pitch. IIP 44 is meant to set up an even field with the other pitches that also takes into consideration where the DAOs resources would best be spent. That was the intent with the game selection process.

With regards to Johnny's pitch, to my understanding he has not posted as an official IIP and left it in the Ideas forum for this exact reason. I'm not sure what the IMC has discussed, since they have nothing to debate till they start the process officially anyways.

I also have nothing against purposing any idea. Just not in this forum at this time. It's not how the process is supposed to play out and would not want all the pitches being presented here. I do think the market research could help refine your idea and being an innovative and creative person with the initiative to write this massive document, I could imagine you coming up with another idea using the research to propel illuvium further.

Yeah I was surprised to see it in March governance newsletter as well.

"Major Governance Discussions

Game Pitch: Illuvium Beyond - Survival of the Fittest

Author: Johnny | Illuvium

Before summarizing this, it should be clear that although this proposal has come from Johnny, it is by no means a guarantee of its production now, or straight after the Open Beta. The discussion on this game pitch cannot be conducted until the DAO is ready for a discussion surrounding future Illuvium titles.

The aim of this idea is to explore the development of a new collectible card game (CCG) that utilizes Illuvitars and Illuvials. The CCG should enhance the value of Illuvitars, promote bonding with accessories, and broaden the Illuvium gaming ecosystem. The setting of the CCG is intended to capitalize on the playful nature of Illuvitar accessories, such as clown noses, gold chains and meme glasses. However, there has been discussion within the community regarding whether the CCG should adopt a more serious theme and utilize new assets instead of Illuvitars. Additionally, there has been discourse on how a new card game could compete with existing Web3 card games."

There were also discussions on the Illuvipets mobile game.

"Illuvipets Part 2

Author: Darko

The aim of this idea is to continue the discussion on a new mobile game that is inspired by Tamagotchi and Pokemon Go. The game would utilize existing assets such as plants, fuel, Illuvials, Illuvitars and land. The community discussed further development of this idea and hopes for it to be included in one of the next games to be developed. There was also some discussion regarding leveling up Illuvials via this system and integrating it with the broader ecosystem in a complimentary way."

I just want my idea to at least be discussed by the IMC. If a formal proposal isn't necessary to get the discussions started, then I have no problem removing it from this section.

Thanks for pointing out the newsletter snippets.

I find it problematic that they are posting the pitches on the newsletter. That is inherently marketing those ideas and not fair for anyone who is waiting for the official pitch jam. They should not be discussed until Pre-planning Genre Research Documentation was submitted and a formal announcement has been made by IMC.

I once again understand you wanting the spotlight for your idea for the same reason.

Interested in how "Major discussions" are taking place when the parameters for debate have not been set by the market research. Maybe I am missing something.

Would like to hear from the councils on this <@&1107754780744487002> <@&814435151307866142>

  1. johnny made it clear that it's just an idea. imo anyone can post a game idea.
  2. the newsletters is just summarizing major discussions from the discord. no intention to market anything, its just news

We were wary to even have Johnny present his idea, for specifically this reason. It needs to be clear that it was posted as an idea, not as the next game the DAO is approving for development. Those were the bulk of the discussions the IMC had about it, because obviously an idea for a game holds more weight coming from a senior Labs team member. At the end of the day, that idea did get presented, and it got presented as an idea, not as a proposal to be voted on.

As far as major or serious discussions about the next title go, we're not there yet. I'd say 90% of our time and effort this epoch has been focused on getting our existing titles launched, and what we can do to facilitate that.

Yes, this is a cool idea (I personally love TDs), but I would be rejecting any proposal that would force a new game to be developed. There's a lot of work that needs to be done prior to that stage, including market research, but also extremely importantly, what types of games the Labs team has an appetite to develop. Without that passion within the team, pushing a game pitch onto the team would end poorly.

It's possible that the specifics of these pitches were discussed more by ICC, but the IMC's discussions were primarily about how to ensure it was well communicated that Johnny's idea is just that - an idea.

#

Meaning no offence to you or anyone else, but digging into the specifics of any game idea proposal right now wouldn't be a good use of time, because the reality is we're not in a place to approve game pitches right now. It would be discussion for the sake of discussion, as opposed to discussion that can result in near-term action.

maybe the IIP should be asking the Team to start doing the market research as per IIP-44, instead of asking to build a game
