Proposal:

  • Drop the ability to customize the Ranger's face and body for the Overworld as an onboarding step.
  • Have a default character that everyone uses as a starting point (use the ranger from the first private beta).
  • Have accessories that allow to modify a ranger's look, such as the hair color, tattoos, eye patch, etc. (similar to Illuvitars)
  • Accessories can be unlocked and traded, hence be part of the game economy.

The proposed feature could be rolled out some time in the future, so it is not a open beta blocker.

How do you save time by dropping something that's already done? 🤔 Your suggestion would result in the opposite, as the team would have to create accessories as NFTs, that need to fit with on all kinds of rangers.

That's a super time consuming task.

The time saving is referring for rolling out the open beta. Edited the proposal accordingly.

The current character customization still needs work and only a minimal version is available in the current client. The team leaked that they are working on various aspects like hair etc.

If that effort is dropped and a default ranger is used instead, it is safe to assume that it will unlock time for other tasks for the open beta.

I argue that any form of character customization is not essential for the open beta, and if done, it is better to have it part of the game economy some time later (no rush).
