Working here and there since a while on a few ideas for IZ, one of them being a new building for Zero called the Training Grounds (Name subject to change :D)

Training grounds would be implemented for different reasons like:

  • More Variety in base layout
  • Element and fuel sink
  • Allows a Landowner to focus more on fuel production if he likes
  • Connects IZ further with OW

Simply said, Training grounds is a new building, where every ranger in the Illuvium ecosystem can place Illuvials to gain exp over time in exchange for fuel. The landowner has to prepare spots with elements inside the training grounds.
So if the landowner decides to not use the spots for himself, training grounds can work as an uncertain source of fuel "production", it might not always work at max capacity, since some spots could or will be empty, but i guess it will be well booked out. (Otherwhise costs have to be balanced properly to attract more people to place illuvials)

All parties should profit from training grounds

  • F2P plots gain attention, since everyone can train passively his own illuvials
  • Landowners can "rent out" space for additional fuel income and with that focus more on fuel, if he doesn't like to go the path of blueprints
  • Megacity owners have increased stats
  • DAO increases revenue with an additional fuel sink

More Details to the Training grounds in the google doc sheet

This is a very basic draft for an additional build, so I would appreciate feedback on additional implementations or changes in general.

I love this idea.
I would like to see some deeper connection to over world by introducing plant utility.
Now that we won’t have the number of augments in arena and overworld there is less use case for harvestable plants in the overworld.
I would like to see another building added that allows land owners to make food and potions 🧪 for the illuvials that are in the training camp.
🏕️ camp kitchen.

Gm @tacit shoal ,
I like this idea of a built in rent out inside this new building training ground.

But F2P plot should profit too? THINKING

not sure if its an exact example. War Raiders have a garage system where players/vehicles need to park & recharge.

A rental fee is paid to the owner of the garage earning them ingame currency

Two things come to my mind.

  • How would players see the available training grounds? Would players have the ability to see other landplots besides their own? Or would this feature be available outside of IZ?
  • Does this need a lending system in place to actually work?

I know we are web3 and everybody should earn something while playing, but i hope one Day we can Make the jump over to web2 and earning isn't the only purpose to play a game 🙂.

But it could be easely opened up for f2p also being able to earn, if majority wants it.

I envision IZ f2p more as a casual game where Buildings are built to create Stuff overtime for all the Games and assets, where pretty much everyone in the Illuvium ecosystem plays IZ here and there to be able to get benefits for himself while not actively playing. If everyone would play it, there's no reason one would place his illuvials in your Training grounds and pay fuel instead of his own Training grounds.

Yea UI for that i didn't mentioned at all because i guess Team knows best.
I guess the ideal Way to do it is in sanctum mesa with a pannel where you See all landplots obviously Filter System needs to be in there too so you Find a suitable spot for your illuvial to put in. Would be cool to also have an interface in IZ itself, so you can swap out illuvials on the go.

Why do you mean with lending System?

I don't think so... Like if you were on my plot how would you put in your illuvials? 😅
A link has anyways to be created if it isn't already. If you actually See my plot on the screen and can Click my Training ground indont know, but AT least you have to See a list of all available spots and data to them since there is different costs and exp gain Speed and can Filter and choose whatever spot you like

Flowing from the "gyms" thread. Personally I am not a big fan of the passive "parking/Bill from Route 25" concept exclusively. If its just this I think it under sells the bredth of what this could be. If it was both the passive parking idea and an semi active training ground like the pokemon go gym where OW players can actively battle a stationed set of illuvials by the land owner/trainer then I am down.

I feel this could be much more integral to the ecosystem and community and envision something extravagant. Ok we can park illuvials for a fee, fine by me but kinda snooze. Picture this on top of it.

A place/gym/training dojo where you can enter in OW. Each land owner has the ability to stage their own interior with ingame assets themed by the lands location. It big and beautiful there are rooms that can be entered and they represent challenges for active training against staged illuvials, or they represent that lands kart track, or map for a shooter or tower defense game. These are selected in a server at random but fair distribution perhaps for each tier for those lands. and maybe there is a side room for parking for those who want that option.

none of this is passive but is a city builder in a city builder, an expansion for communities and guilds to proxy chat. Sponsors and partnership banners inside on the balconies of arenas or the foyers etc may be inside these that instead of the gamer paying for training, that they (sponsors)pay and it goes to the DAO. the interoperability, marketing opportunities, not bleeding every player for every micro interaction and integration can be far more than just a parking lot where a nominal fee is paid for a boom gate.

Illuvial Staking

Landowners would stake up to X number of their illuvials into the training grounds also giving an xp boost to that illuvial line. This X could increase with the building stage and could start as small as only 1 for the stage 1 building. If all staked illuvials are of the same base affinity/class it could even boost the xp not only of that illuvial line but to all illuvials of that same base affinity/class.

With this we would kickstart an interesting concept that is illuvial staking on land, a concept I think should be explored in many more areas and increases the value proposition of illuvials even further.

I like your active training grounds idea. But some questions. Would players be inclined to do these activities to avoid repetitive leveling in the OW? Would they rather have some sort of passive way to level up other illuvials while they keep leveling up their main teams? Would you be ok with having a passive system first and then later having an opt in active system with slight different rewards ?Because this looks technically super complex. How would you integrate f2p lands into the active system.?

I am not sure. If leveling is hard and then you have the option to spam training rounds it may end up more efficient for the desired goal? I'm ok with the passive way but that might need to be gated by fuel, where the battling is interactive and free benefits to both the challenger and the land holder as their illuvials go up (challenger being active and land bolder more passive after saving the positioning - like survival arena). As for f2p I don't think giving them the gym option would be more fair to holders??
