I don't want to download that pdf. Can you copy and paste in here?
Yeah I can try
There is images and graphs and whatnot in it so it may come out shit
Max characters is 2k, or you will screw formatting.
Can I upload each pages as an image?
Not sure, you can try but know that if you delete this one, to upload a new one, you'll have to wait 6 hours.
What if I shared a link to my docs with the ability to view it
I think that link might get you temporarily muted by a bot lol
you won't, you can link your google docs file np
All links from google are whitelisted?
Usually they are fine in these feedback threads. I’m not exactly sure what links are whitelisted.
Proposed direction for Illuvium
@gusty pewter @vapid trout I put a bunch of effort into this document, will only take 5minutes to read
Ok since I'm getting used to go against the grain, I'll start. Pretty much all the ideas in here go against what I envision Illuvium to be.
I can somewhat agree with 2-a) Free to play model with catching level 0 Illuvials is redundant.
The other points you mention the team is already working on them and we should see significant improvements with PB4.
The rest I'm pretty much against.
3-a) Illuvium Zero is put on hold.
3-b) Overworld is put on hold.
I mean... What? How could we call Illuvium an IBG if the 3 games are not released by OB?
From there it just derails entirely IMO, with one-time payment for tiered accounts, illuvial packs and multi-account incentives.
Not only that, you're proposing a huge overhaul to the core mechanics of illuvials with the introduction of merging, evolution trees and genetic history like axie did. This doesn't sound like Illuvium anymore, I personally don't like it sorry.
Grant is not on the team anymore unfortunately.
Kieran and Aaron are the right people I guess
Oh man, this is steep... I don't mean to be a downer but you asked for feedback, so here is mine.
I can see that you did put a lot of effort into this document. I just wish you also put some effort into staying on the grounds of reality.
Because I don't know how can you say you considered that the community expects a game release soon, AND still suggest scrapping 80% of what a team of 100+ people were developing for 3 years + completely redesigning the remaining 20% based on what you think would be the right direction...
Cheers for the update got the brothers confused
Thanks for the feedback, but just because the team spent a lot of time in a direction doesn’t mean it’s right. All the work though isn’t in vain, I just think other areas are more important to be fleshed out before release.
Thanks for the feedback. If all three games are not fun or engaging this will be terrible for release. The model I describe in my document can also fit in with Apples terms so it could potentially be released on the Apple Store. I know people are very ante axie here but you have to see why certain parts of it were so successful, I think it was the breeding/creating axie aspect that made it engaging
@rocky python please read
Also I never said to scrap anything just focus on the “20%” before release
Thank you but I'm not in favour of this. If you get more support though, it doesn't matter what I think. That's the beauty of the model.
Only reason axie was successful, was because they were first web3 game for a list mg time, and you could earn money with it. Pretty much everything else, especially the core mechanics of the economy, were neither thought out, nor sustainable, not did it Make Fun.
Just my opinion probably
I want the project to go with what is projected to be. And see how it goes. I’m opened to pivot on main ideas and concepts but I will always rather tweak and add the current flow of concepts
Thanks for the feedback, but I don't agree with a lot of it. Some of the things that I do agree with are already being implemented.
Cheers for the reply but did you actually read the document? I didn't propose any of Axies economy based models, I just wanted to implement a genetic history into Illuvial's to give them a more unique feel as well as add more options to explore later down the track
@gusty pewter @rocky python @split radish and everyone one else that replied I thank you all for giving this some of your time. I can see that my idea wasn't well received. Time will tell how Illuviam tracks and I am eager to see what the team releases.
@woven minnow This is the document I was talking about
I will give it a read, thank you
In my opinion everything I said that would go wrong basically did. I thought my ideas back then still hold up now
@gusty pewter this is the document
Is the main thing you are trying to express not capturing Illuvials and rather buying them in packs?
Not really. The main point is that the game needs depth in multiple areas. Trying to spread such a wide net only means you miss the opportunity for deep mechanics. This document is just trying to show how a lot of areas in the game haven't been fleshed out which means it has no identity. Not giving Illuvial's the chance to roll different abilities and being able to have interchangeable specs within the game was a massive loss. Having booster packs oppose to catching Illuvials in the wild is really because the game hasnt found a fun and engaging way to do it yet. The packs were an idea to get people to spend money now while the team spends time figuring out how to make it fun.
@gusty pewter
I agree, and we are building a lot of those features which will give the OW an identity
My opinion and I respect the time your giving me, is that you guys need to release a document similair to mine with waht you want to do in each area and get the community to thrash it out. I havent seen anything like that yet
The best bit about this game is get pretty illuvials and battling them aganist other people
Just focus on that, and drop overworld for now and make it booster packs. I guarantee you will get people just ripping packs for the sake of it even if they have no desire to using them, just for the collectability and trying to get something rare and valuable
That's what we're discussing, however, we have a lot of players already playing the Overworld so we're likely going to include the ability to "open packs" or use "automated drone runs" to pick up illuvials quickly. Many players have requested that feature
Why I am not a fan of overworld is that when a new player gets into it and hasnt had anything to do with Illuvium it can be a massive turn off. Its different for players that have been with you guys over the development.
