#Fuel suggestions for F2P players/average mainstream gamer

This may already be planned, but to make sure the average gamer isn't turned away by the perception of steep price to entry, etc...

I am suggesting that every player gets an allotted amount of free fuel (small amount) per day or per week. If they want to spend more time in the higher tier overworld regions, they then can spend money on fuel to do so.

Also, make fuel cheap

I think this solves a few issues:

  • Encourages everyone to play, regardless of their financial situation
  • It keeps players in the ecosystem, the more players, the more potential transactions
  • It is the key to a symbiotic relationship between crypto investors and gamers.

In my opinion, the lower the barrier to entry, the better adoption

This may be what is already in the plans, but I really think it will have a much better long term positive effect on the game, and provide the most opportunity for growth over time.

Just a suggestion, I am very excited for this game

F2P players can already do unlimited runs in stage 0 and catch 75 illuvials for free. Free fuel would just devalue land and higher tier illuvials as well.

I would agree if the free fuel was not a very small amount. For example, I am only suggesting, maybe 1 or 2 free runs of any tier above 0 per day or per week (some reasonable number of runs within that window).

To me, that gives room for the marketing tag line to be able to claim things like, "you can play the game for free, start to finish, no additional cost required". However, for more access to higher tiers, there is a cost in fuel. However, each day/week, you can have x number of runs for free.

I know that there is a thin line here, but I am thinking of the benefits over time vs the alternative.

Who knows this may not be needed at all. I am just trying to suggest and maximize the benefit to all people interacting with this game. We investors get our ROI, while gamers get a complete and fun game where they do not feel limited by the runway length of their pockets, etc..

However, with time invested into the game, they can get something of value out of it too.

The value gained from time spent playing should always be > money spent for access to spend time playing imo

A fun game means more players wanting to spend time playing, and if they want to spend even more time in the higher tiers (which I expect they will), then that also == more money spent to access

Yeah I also think giving fuel for free isn't the way to go.

I posted an idea like a week ago for a player-driven quest system that would allow players to have some sort of progression system to higher tier regions in a fun way, without having to pay for the travels themselves. Take a look.

1 - you underestimate the effect of those 1-2 free runs per day/week above T0 runs, that's a lot of value harvested and sold on the market

2 - land owners are already close to rioting, the last thing we need to do is taking more money out of their pockets

3 - F2P players already have a way to go all the way for no money invested - they can farm, level up and sell T0 illuvials, minerals, gear from T0 runs and use the money they get for fuel for the higher tier runs

it's like giving everyone 1-2 free pokemon card packs every day. This in particular does not work in the Illuvium Ecosystem. but it's a good first Idea @sick radish I think we have all been here once 😛

Part of my overall concern is the barrier to entry vs limiting the player base due to entry costs, etc..

however, even with that approach the questions becomes, how do you integrate those same (low barrier players) into the overall ecosystem (fuel payments, etc..). The answer is not clear and may not even be realistic.

So, I think this game is one of those that will just have to have that slight barrier to entry. I think we'll be fine though

My concern is probably a bit inflated

People can create many alts just to farm the free fuels without doing anything.
Maybe need some kind of social account verification or even KYC to claim the free fuels

Every free fuel is costing revdis to stakers and landowners
