#Palworld and what the devs can take note of for Overworld.

My fellow illuvium peeps.

I wanna beg the devs to quickly take notes of what works in Palword and apply it To Overworld.
The formula already works, there is no need to experiment.

My suggestions:

  1. Make overworld gameplay real time action creature capture ( We literally have guns already in the game. We are half way there. Pls!)

  2. Get rid of the TFT gameplay and save it for Arena. (Honestly the TFT in overworld kills the momentum excitement in the game. You should be able to craft, go attack, and capture! Given that players are already paying to get in the worlds.)

  3. Make the Illuvials roam around, run or attack once they see the ranger. (In general add behavior to make them more alive)

  4. Make the illuvials parts of your kit once captured. ( They should be able to help you hunting, transportation, mining and obviously depends on the Illuvial you captured)

  5. Make it that players can take 5 or 6 Illuvials with them during adventure and can summon one depending on the task you need done. (Weather it's attacking or mining or transport or flying or whatever)

  6. Make Santamesa your base where you can see all of your captured illuvials walking around. (This will make for an amazing screenshots fest. Trust me this is free promotion)

  7. The catching animation should snappy and satisfying at least close to Palworld.

I would hate to see the autobattle/TFT gameplay removed from OW. It's one of the main things that adds a layer of strategy and planning when going for illuvial runs.
While i agree (and as said above the team is already working on) OW being more 'alive' Illuvium should remain it's own game and the TFT gameplay as you call it is one of the unique things we have in the OW loop.
Going all-in towards the action/point and shoot style of game wouldn't suit Illuvium's complexity, lore (i assume) and deep connection that the team is trying to implement between the Ranger (you) and what you aim to become in this (ultimately) vast universe.

Public Beta 2 featured Illuvial Wakes
Open Beta will feature Illuvial Hunting (Illuvials in the Overworld)
Post Open Beta will likely feature real-time combat.

Yeah I certainly like this, that and something closer to the Destiny 2 Player Hub (X number of players and NPCs you can interact with before going out into the world for X Y Z thing.)

Yeah the reason why I don't like TFT in overworld it's because it kills the momentum of high. Players should be able to go to the next and each moment should be action filled. This is like going to the next card which is what the overwolrd was meant to achieve, like opening a booster pack. It's not about lore it's about what works and formula is already tested and working. We can still have Tft but just leave it for Arena.

Yeah, I'm most excited about deep progression systems in Overworld.

I want to level an insane team and take them into Leviathan, similar to Pokemon whereby the player would be running six level 100s

Could not agree more to get rid of the arena style game mode capture, for overworld. Should have been something unique from the get go, I think people let it slide because it makes relative sense given how arena is set up, but it really doesn’t play well for an open world style game to put such a hard stop to the gameplay to switch it into the very slow paced and strategic battle board part. Idk, maybe use the augments as powerups and items you can add to your illuvial before it does a 1v1 battle with the one you’re trying to capture or something

Contrary to the majority I like the auto battler in the OW. Reminds me of all the JRPGs I've played. Hope in the future there can be both modes like Aaron mentioned.

I know your PoV comes from Palworld and I'll just say my opinion. Palworld is sh1t, it might have some fun mechanics, but that's all, and the numbers show that. From the 2M all-time peak players right now they only have half a million concurrent players. It's basically a first person shooter survival game and doesn't even come close to illuvium. Real time action it's higher pace indeed but it involves much less strategy compared to the auto battler.
To me what makes the most sense and since illuvium is an inter-operable game is to merge all the different games as much as we can.

My adaptation to it maybe to train them so that as you enter an area the mining illuvial can be sent to search and target the deposits and once identified your drone can head over to help recover the deposits. As you move to each stage of Illuvial they could cover a greater area of the map or be used more times. Once their task is completed they will return to where they are stored to recharge or something.

imo palworld for illuvium it's a gift, without a good game developed people have shown a very high interest, and illuvium must be able to exploit this dynamic, there are already weapons, illuvials and a world that are on another level. I agree with filow ow must be the main game and modes must revolve around it, than each player can decide what mode to play

That game is still in its infancy, they're going to add improvements, but the gift is that the market tells you that people are freaking out about this game, and Illuvium is 100 times better

I stand by my initial comment also. I see the autobattler phase as a unique mechanic in the capture loop and it adds also a layer of strategy to the game. It can also be viewed - especially in lower tier/early battles - as an onboarding tool for players that don't think they will play arena or simply don't know about it. Maybe players coming for OW will be attracted by the style of the autobattler and with small battles in the OW they will learn the basics and in no time they might go into Arena also.
I really don't see why it should be entirely removed. We could have like 2 modes - a fast paced one for people that just enjoy capturing/hunting(no autobattle phase) and a 2nd one as we have it at the moment. Leave the choice to the player

I don't feel like I need to sleep lol. It's a lot harder to catch them now and you still have to use your mind to win.
I definitely want to see it in an open environment though. There will be other games so I don't think the battle board in arena is super important, like Nick mentioned, it's a place holder.
I'm leaning towards a top down turn based mechanic. When you enter a fight it cuts to a bigger 'real life' like final fantasy vii or a world boss rpg type battle.
I can see that being very entertaining.
The load screen from the wake to the battle is way too long, It should definitely be instant. Or seemingly instant. That would be a minor improvement for the next iteration before or after OB.

Palworld may not have lasting traction so I think it's important to only take a little from it.
I think it would of been like a stab in the stomach to grant and others that have been working in the overworld that people don't care so much.
Yet saying that, if genshin impact was janky like palworld I doubt people would play it for as long as they do. The combination of good gameplay and graphics is a double whammy.
They have the assets now so let's see.

You could use the Palworld mechanic just to catch an illuvials, and after you shoot the orb you capture the monster that way, then the arena mode and all the others remain unchanged

I like the idea of chasing the illuvial as the wake slowly closes behind the illuvial. You as the ranger have to shoot the illuvial to slow them from jumping into the wake too soon and loosing your chance to capture.
Future updates could have you battle the illuvial after jumping into the wake. They could reuse the arena maps as a battle arena for you and the illuvial to battle.

The spirit behind blockchain technologies inception was giving power back to the people. Web3 gaming gives power to the players by allowing them to own their own assets and more importantly using the blockchain to keep the game devs accountable. Play 2 Earn makes it all about the money when that's not the point and why web2 hates crypto games. Mass adoption doesn't mean you can't money but it does mean prioritizing ownership over investing.

It has no where near the players it used to. It's player count fell off a cliff because it wasn't actual gamers playing it was people from 3rd world countries who needed to make money. Those kinds of people don't stick around during the bear market or when their assets drop in price significantly. The only way for a web3 game to be successful long term in the main stream is to get your normal web2 players playing it.
