TLDR - Implement the re-bond feature on illuvitars

@random pollen already posted a similar idea in the past. The difference this time is that there is no removing feature just re-bonding.

The aim of this idea thread is to gauge the community sentiment to a possible change for this feature.

The beyond game should incentivize the bonding feature not the other way around.

As it is right now it is very punishing to bond an illuvitar for the following reasons:

  • Bonding an illuvitar is something irreversible.

  • Bonding an illuvitar leads to a decrease in its perceived value

Additionally bonding accessories is not incentivized aside from players trying to climb the leaderboards or making their pfp.
This led to a relative stagnant secondary market for the accessories and only the top 100ish players actually bonding their illuvitars.

Pros:

  • Remove the weight of irreversibility of bonding

  • Increased secondary market trading volume

Cons:

  • Reduce the perceived value of an un-bonded illuvitar

Final note:

Enabling re-bonding of accessories doesn't mean you'll be able to REMOVE an accessory, only to REPLACE it.
You can only re-bond accessories from their corresponding set, i.e. can't re-bond set 2 accessories on set 1 illuvitars.

Let's make Illuvium Beyond Great Again!

I'll add that when we eventually get a game for Beyond and accessories play a role in it. This will be a must have mechanic.

The question to me and thus why I wanted to hear the community on this topic is more if we want to make this change now.

I like the idea, but i would restrict how many times illuvitar can be re-bonded. I would stop at one rebounding (for all slots), or one per accessories slot. That way, unbounded ones should still retain some of their perceived value.

🤔 but if we have no chance to make the change now, and you agree, then why even ask the question if we want this change now or not? This topic should be raised once open beta is well on the way, otherwise it will just be buried. Team has said multiple times that there is no dev capacity for anything new for a while

We might get the approval now if we all agree and they can prioritize it soon after the openbeta as it may have been ready to implement at that time. Approval process takes time so better do it now than waiting for open beta.

This space is for us to share our opinions and let our voices be heard.
I'll give you another example. Tomorrow I'll release a proposal about an idea that was submitted July last year as you can see here

so don't think these threads will just get "buried" here

I think it’s a great idea if the accessory you’re replacing is gone forever. Itll make it a little bit costly to rebond since you lose your old accessory and it’ll be a good way to lower the supply

If this to gauge community support and start the approval process, then sure, I support it and already voted with a thumbs up.

My objection was just regarding the wording used by @merry rain , which seem to suggest that we have the option to implement this change now. We don't, as this is not something we could just switch on. The team has to develop this feature and that will not happen before open beta. As long as the expectations are clear for everyone, I'm all for it 👍

Sorry, i'm not really that keen on this feature.
Being able to rebond pretty much removes all strategy and any real cost to your decisions.
With this, one can simply stick anything on anything and whatever, you can always just change it in future.

Where would the strategy be with this feature in the game?
There would simply be one question to ask yourself, to bond or not to bond, that is all.

Also in regards to these points:

Bonding an illuvitar is something irreversible.

Still would be.
You can put better accessories on but it stays bonded.

Bonding an illuvitar leads to a decrease in its perceived value

They likely always will. Even with this new feature, as stated above, they remain bonded and the perception wouldn't change for the vast majority of them.

Additionally bonding accessories is not incentivized aside from players trying to climb the leaderboards or making their pfp.

Again, I believe that this feature would not change this fact.
I may be wrong, but please can you explain how the ability to rebond will suddely increase the demand for bonding illuvitars for non leaderboard participants.

It is extremely rare that anyone will be bond for aesthetics alone, it is usually motivated by leaderboard in the vast majority of cases and I just don't see how this feature will change that.

This led to a relative stagnant secondary market for the accessories and only the top 100ish players actually bonding their illuvitars.

Same as above, please can you explain how this feature will change this?

From my perspective i'm just seeing people with bonding remorse that are trying to justify a feature that has no real justification/data to support it.

The negatives far outweigh the positives in my eyes, and we've barely scratched the surface.

Rebonding with same level or higher level tier/stage only restriction might be potential solution to limit the number of rebonding on the same illuvitar...
