Illuvium Beyond Wave 3 release date

TLDR - Wave 3 should only come with OB release, whenever that is, ideally 1 month before OB to coincide with the marketing activation for the OB launch.

Based on the poll recently made on the illuvium-beyond channel the community doesn't want any more waves to be released until the OB launch.

Now that OB was delayed to Q2 and we've had ICCP-14 approved saying "No further Wave sales are planned until open beta launch." We need another proposal to release wave 3 one month before the OB.

Since we don't know when the OB is going to launch the idea is to have wave 3 launch around one month before the OB launch, whenever that is.

The timing is important in order to kickstart a good marketing campaign for the OB launch. And it is my understanding that it's crucial to have a beyond wave underway already once OB releases, therefore we need to release the wave before and not after the OB launch.

Side note, I'll be presenting in the near future an idea for the waves duration to be 5 months, for consistency sake. This would have us have still 4 months of wave 3 after OB releases instead of just 2 months.

I agree, 1 month before open beta seems to be the best solution considering our options.

I like the idea. Only concern is it is hard to nail down an exact one month before OB. The way tech based sprints work. One bug or security flaw could push things an extra sprint or two.

But I like the idea of the communities ability to go grab a pfp if they want during OB.

I think there has to be compromises and the team should be confident enough to say when they are nearly ready to launch the OB, even for the marketing sake of it.

But I get what you're saying there's always unkown variables and random problems. It's murphy's law 😛

I would rather make it 1 month after OB than before OB due to different reasons.

• ICCP-14 got approved (no more wave until OB launch)
• Confusion Illuvitar/Illuvial might already be way more clear since you can buy both Illuvials and Illuvitars on the marketplace
• Not sure about the marketing impact beyond is giving the 3 other games (which are the IBG's). The impact the other games have onto beyond on the other hand would be big imo
• If somebody want to have a pfp right at the start of OB, he could buy on marketplace, which would increase market volume.
• Prediction of OB launch not really feasable on how team releases stuff

We've come to the point where we've agreed to only release wave 3 with OB the question now remains if it's prior or after launch.

I'll just point out some things and lets hash out the details.

• ICCP-14 got approved on the basis that the OB would release on Q1

• Confusion between illuvitars/illuvials will be there regardless if we have a wave running or not

• It might not have that big of an impact but it could help mitigate the wait before OB and kick start the excitment for the illuvium ecossystem overall

• If someone wants to buy a pfp that's not from wave 3 they still have to buy it from the marketplace

• Prediction of the OB launch sure won't be easy but the team itself will have to release a date, for better or for worse

• Haven't followed ICCP-14 discussion too much tbh. What was the main reason there? Time or usecase (wait because too early for next wave, or wait until games are life and people actually can use it as pfp)
• I don't think so. I guess majority of gamers joining the ecosystem start playing for free, either OW or Arena and then start thinking about the payed features like s1-3 runs in OW, buying Illuvials for arena or whatever. So people should have a clue how the Illuvial nft's look like.
• True might help a little, but i would rather have People's first contact with the connected games than having to buy a pfp or they don't have one.
• Sure if he want's a specific one he might have to buy anyways. Meant i read that having the opportunity to buy pfp during ob launch would be crucial, probably misread that 😄
• True tho, they also might change it to now it's ready to release lets start marketing and release it in 2 weeks, rather than should be ready in 2 weeks let's start marketing now and hope for the best.

This is exactly the type of comment I knew would show up.
And it's once again dicing Beyond the black sheep project in our ecosystem. I personally feel with all the improvements the team has made in beyond it's time to start saying we have 4 inter-connected games because it integrates very well with the other games be it through the drone blasts/skins/emotes/battle boards offered.

Beyond is not only about the pfp anymore that ship has sailed IMO

I don't think it's the black sheep, it is where it was intended to be, no?
Like you can't get "main assets" like Illuvials, weapons, fuel, ore, plants etc, you get cosmetics like pvp, skins emotes etc. It is kind of connected, but still "beyond".

Wouldn't it be better then to release it as soon as possible regarding to timelines of next promo being fixed? instead of linking it to OB launch which could get delayed again?

I also did not follow closely during ICCP-14 discussions. As I read through the approved proposal’s rationale, I see that part of the reason to extend wave 2 was to avoid having a large gap between wave 2 and 3 ( extract of the official doc below).

If we wait until open beta, Beyond will inevitably go to the freezer for several months – what a time to be on the LB . My personal preference is to launch wave 3 in February and squeeze in one more wave prior to open beta, which I fear may not come when we all expect.

Since I know I’m a minority, I’ll trust Nick and vouch for before open beta. Hopefully he chimes in and lets us know why.

and I agree, having a promo sale without having a wave running is a bad experience
