I think there should be a simulation mode where a player has access to everything (illuvials, weapons, etc.) and can place illuvials, weapons, etc. down on both sides in order to simulate a variety of team compositions and situations.

That’s a pretty good idea and wouldn’t take too much time. However keep in mind this has to come after release.

As a cherry on top I'd love to be able to access board states from my last 5-10 games and retry them. I think there should be tech to support this from the replay feature.
It can be pretty educational and allow people to create custom puzzles maybe. Or when streaming try out chat ideas.

I think this is a great idea, and was thinking about suggesting this too…. Like you suggest, It could just be a simple “practice mode”
Would be cool if you could set up teams on both sides and watch the match play out.
This would help both experienced players planning strategies, and would be a good place to start for new players as well. might even consider setting up the tutorial in this mode 🤔
