Maybe this a personal bias from my anecdotal journey:
- Fuck around during placement games (not knowing that’s what these were)
- Knocked down 150+ a loss
- Proceed to have to grind 5-15 elo at a time back upwards, despite winning 95+% of matches
Product-wise it:
- Provides an incentive to keep playing (if you reset at session end): session time etc boost
- Heightens emotional impact of sequential games, more streamable etc
