Hello guys, Alex here with double digit years of pvp experience, and would like to share my ideas for the future, regarding PVP.
You all know that feeling, when ghosting, leave a game after a couple of months, that is good looking and addictive because of the reward system was sucks.
It is just what it is.... You have to keep em' in the loop and motivate from season to season.

You have a solid ground, The game is good looking, addictive and has a lot of creative ideas!
But you can not stop at this point and i believe you have already planned everything.

Anyway, lets jump in it.

My ideas:

-Ranking system should based on seasons, when in the end players have to defend their position on the leaderboard.
-Use the ranking system to set up goals for players, that they can grind for.
(e.g. either "top 500 player will unlock a battleboard skin , top 400 a ranger skin, top 300 an effect and so on. Or You can say everybody who reach the rating *2000, will be rewarded with something.)
-The lower rewards, should be achievable for the less good players as well and push them to put in extra hours to evolve and reach higher ranks for the cooler rewards.
-Rewards should be Cosmetics ONLY not giving ingame advantage ! (Skins, arenas, weapon skins, damage effect skins... etc, you name it)
-Each season needs its unique non-redundant fc**ng beast looking final rewards for those who want to show-off with that during the upcoming seasons.
(It's a human factor and needs to be considered, also makes them come back and grind season by season to try reach the "end reward")
-ILV rewards can be good as well, for top X % in the end of season, also for the tournaments of course.

In a nutshell everybody is looking for the feeling when a game catches them and keep them motivated for a long-long time.
A good reward system is one of the most important keys for this.

Motivation should not be only ILV, it's not only they're looking for.

Best Regards,
Alex

Rewards need to be financial , not cosmetic

Can you explain why ONLY?
minted skins / cosmetics for the players are NFT-s so you can sell them if You wish on the market. And damn lord if i could sell my gladiator mount in WOW, that would have a price 🙂

I do not really think only financial rewards can keep competitive playerbase for the long run

Financial rewards will keep a playerbase longer than skins. Now if you want to add skins on top of everything else then thats fine. As long as those are just considered a bonus.

Skins also financial since they are NFT-s sir.
And the rare ones can be valued by the market extremly high.
Flow in the marketplace, generating more revenue than just a 1-time payment to for example 25 players.

I might think wrong here, but as a pvp gamer finally own those skins that i have grind for long times, and have the possibility to sell them worth more than a 1-time payment reward.

of course tournament prices are important, but saying that skins are not a good marketing tools or just a bonus, especially when we talk about NFT-s on the blockchain,
with all the respect, it is not clever approach.

i will just leave this topic open for others, respect your point of view but can not agree.

I like the idea of non $ rewards, and definitely worth thinking about.
If you do cosmetic rewards:

  • it is a flex having those cosmetics in upcoming seasons
  • one could sell them since they are nft's, which helps onboarding people to buy/sell assets on the marketplace

Nonetheless this has to be well thought out

  • People abusing with playing multiple accounts to get more rewards seems to be a known problem with seasonal reward system based on ranking.
  • Creating those nft's is a lot of work, so you can't just throw tons of that stuff to majority if players (i heared numbers like thousands of work hours for a battleboard skin)
  • Illuvium and land holders also want to sell cosmetics, which has always been considered when give away cosmetics for played hours.

We are still in beta phase, and i don't think we have to push too hard so soon with rewards in general.
I guess the team is already working on that and would be interesting to hear their thoughts about seasons, tournaments, etc. for when open beta launches

# timid whale Hello guys, Alex here with double digit years of pvp experience, and would like ...

I think this would be fine so at end of season top x% get various cosmetic rewards and very top players get a smaller ilv/other monetary reward which leads into a tournament where the real big monetary prizes are earned.

It lets your more casual but good players still get something out of it while limiting excessive distribution of token rewards until the tournaments where sponsorships and a big livestream can happen and effectively streamline efforts to maximize revenue to support future tournaments.

So you reduce ilv tokens lost by the DAO or potentially even increase them if the livestream results and sponsorships are good enough.

This doesn’t include any tournament systems where people are already paying to enter either which will ofc be monetary prize focused and hopefully automatable to allow people to set them up constantly or at least be ran automatically daily like Gran turismo for example runs constant online race events throughout the day that you can enter.

Kinda rambled so not certain i got my thoughts through clearly. Let me know your thoughts.
