#Adding a future use case to Illuvials: Album with potential collection/LB rewards

Hi - I just wanted to float this as a thought. Conscious the team has a wholistic view and this suggestion might not fit their plans at all.

Idea: Why not leverage the Album and features built for Beyond to create a similar product for Illuvials? Maybe there can be a leaderboard and potentially rewards for the Illuvial collections built by the players?
For leaderboard purposes, the point system could follow a simple logic: each Illuvial would have a Base number of points. Then a multiplier would apply depending on how rare the stats (or IV) of your illuvial are (e.g. if the average Atlas fetches 500 points, maybe the rarest one with best stats gets [2000] album points)

Context
Being invested in the Beyond ecosystem made me realise the appeal and engagement people can have with a product / game that has collectability at the centre of it (word "game" might be a stretch but you get the gist). Hence the idea of a similar product for Illuvials.
Then I saw the interesting results from Kieran's poll on X (What type of player will you be? Results => 25% Illuvial Collector / 16% Arena Player / 17% Fuel Generator / 42% All of the above)

Potential Pros:

  • Additional use case for Illuvials: this product will create a strong incentive for (i) those OW players who will spend a lot of time collecting or chasing rare stat Illuvials. (ii) It'll also reward those whales who will spend money to buy & collect the rarest Illuvials => more dynamic secondary market 🙂
  • Low-hanging fruit [?]: such a feature would heavily leverage the existing infrastructure that was built for Illuvitars
  • Cross-pollination: if people can easily toggle between Illuvial and Illuvitar albums, maybe Beyond players can be drawn into collecting Illuvials or vice versa (OW/Arena to Beyond)

Potential Cons:

  • This will obviously take some dev time and I am sure the focus is currently on readying the games for Q1
  • The idea assumes a reward pool for the Leaderboard (but the benefit could outweigh the cost)

I like the idea.

One thought I had reading this to thing to keep leaderboard fresh and keep people playing perhaps you could have NFTs minted this week LB.

You're right. There could be a weekly variant (i.e. based on Illuvials minted within each week) but not sure whether it's easy to do technically.

Broadly speaking, I am confident there will be a lot of people who will look to collect rare illuvitars and complete full sets. The idea here in general is to (1) give those players a feel of hitting collection milestones through the Album and (2) reward their time spent in OW or buying those illuvials through a leaderboard system (or rewards associated to completed collections).

I thought it was said that each illuvial will have stat variance already built into it within a set range for things like attack/health/omega power, etc. I don't know if that got changes or I am misremembering, but essentially this makes each illuvial more and less valuable for competitive PvP as some would be better than others, so the goal would be to collect the best illuvials with the best stats for PvP.

You're right. I think there'll be pvp modes where your illuvials' individual stats matter and there might be (not sure) other modes where the stats for each illuvial line are normalised to be the same (to purely test skill).
So yes, arena itself will encourage people to collect good stats but the idea here is to give a nice album feature and potentially reward those pvp players who build nice collections but also those who focus more on OW but still want to collect and those who are less proficient in arena but still spend money to build a great collection (the poll I mentioned earlier had 25% of the sample saying they'd mainly play to collect Illuvials).
