Simple Summary:
This IIP presents a structured pathway for the inception, evaluation, and development of game proposals. It is aimed at harnessing the collective intelligence and creative power of the Illuvium community, ensuring democratic participation and optimizing the success potential of new ventures.

Abstract:
This IIP has 3 key Components. In the overview section there is a suggested layout of the key deliverables for 1 and 2 as well a s a complete break down of the Pitch Proposal Process:

1.) Pre Planning Genre Research Documentation: sets the guidelines for Illuvium Labs to prepare an extensive genre market research report to provide the IMC with the most up to date information on industry trends, current studio capabilities, and many more factors for each genre upon request.

2.) Genre Analysis Document: Sets Guidelines for Illuvium Labs to create a public facing document that will compile the information in the market research report and provide the DAO publicly a high level understanding of which genres will benefit the DAO and have the highest chance of success.

3.) Game Pitch Process Flow: This IIP lays out how the new game pitch selection process would be established. Explaining key steps such as submission, required documentation, evaluation, and ultimately how they will be selected and placed in the pipeline of work.

Conclusion:
Once this IIP is approved the IMC would have the authority to request Pre-Planning Genre Research and Genre analysis documents when they feel it is time to start considering the next game. The DAO as a whole will understand how to pitch new game ideas and have a clear picture of the future and how illuvium will expand its IP.

Really well thought out, props to you guys!
Especially love the IPJ idea.

  1. a) Trend analysis for each genre over the past 5 years.”
  • Seems like a too short time period for a Trend analysis(Open it for 10 years?)
  1. a) Analysis of the saturation of genres in the WEB3 space +
Opportunities and challenges in the intersection of web3 and gaming
  • Too much focus on web3. At the time the research happens, probably web2 already try to adopt web3 parts with their popular games, games in development right now probably try to adapt the tech, see it already happening in for example “Space Nation”, both spaces web2 and web3 will slowly start melting together.
  • Illuvium should compete with the whole gaming industry, not focus on web3 or web2

Would love in general to have weightings to all these categories and or subcategories, and set up a point system for the evaluation.

Hey Dr. Spoon thanks for taking the time to read over the doc.

In this document I am just suggesting the parameters for the Market research report.

The IMC will request a comprehensive report when it is appropriate from Illuivum Labs and they will provide the information they believe is the most impactful information. I don't want to dive to much into asking for specific information. I'll let them decide exact parameters, if they think the trend analysis over 10 years is better I would hope they would provide that over my suggestion. I persoanlly don't know what parameters are the best indicators in the gaming industry. Maybe that isn't even a useful one. I'll let an expert on the team work that out.

To your point on the weighting system. I actually had one in there originally, but got pushback based on how easy it is to adjust numbers to make a game/genre look appealing even though it may not be.

im gonna comment per sections

1.a. should this be done annually to stay informed

1.d. this is very very hard to estimate. how are we going to make such estimate decent? ILV is 2 years delayed out of 3 years of development

1.e. this is my background so im gonna drill a bit on this

  • how to do the projection when there is no historical data in web3?
  • are we extrapolating from web2 data?
i have seen members of council using TFT player numbers. Has riot officially published their DAU/MAU ? or the 33 million number is just from an interview? is it reasonable to assume 5-10% of TFT players? or is it too optimistic/pessimistic
  • is there verifiable public data on market size, DAU/MAU and average spending?
  • have you considered crypto cycle to play a role?

I want to thank the DAO for reading through the document and supporting it. Since we have reached support, I will let this sit for 12 more hours and if I don't see any major comments we will push it to the Community sub council.

i always do market research for new projects, really gives me the idea on how to set the assumptions in the projection

sometimes the result can be very surprising

but, it takes away emotion

Ya that's how they should be conducted if we are to find the best results! I personally want a really flushed out RPG, but it takes some serious innovation to incorporate Blockchain in a meaningful way. Then you consider how all our Current NFTS would work into that genre. I can't wait for the first IPJ to see all the unique ideas!
