#Overworld Battle Boards

That would completely change the auto-battler aspect of overworld and i dont personally see how this would improve user experience
Different skins yes, but different shapes and sizes no.
I like it. Maybe not in the overworld, more a part of a rouge like deck builder
change for the better, no?
Overworld auto-battles are not hard (will become very trivial once we all get good decks, and that won't take long to happen), so having another aspect to always keep them fresh is only plus
why not? always the same little square?
Its always in your best interest to use as little mastery points as possible. If you choose to make it a super easy match you pay the price.
In an arena match you could also choose to make it easy and spend everything in your first rounds but you will end up paying a price for it.
In strategy games such as auto-battler, chess or poker something basic and fundamental like the board shape, size and disposition doesnt change and it doesnt make it repetitive and boring necessarily.
If something like this would be implemented in OW it would add a great amount of dev work and be something else to balance properly too. People could get frustrated if they feel they missed to catch an illuvial because the battle happened to be on a board harder to play or simply one they dont like.
Gona be a wake up call for many people who played pb2, when the time omes you actually have to pay for runs and you need to optimize your battles to make some profits out of your runs
I know we need to use as little mastery points as possible. I know chess has the same board. I play both games.
Just think that, in Illuvium case, adding the extra dimension for the overworld boards would be a lot of fun and improve the player experience, since we will play as many runs on the overworld as humanly possible. The amount of dev work shouldn't be that great, since we all know the assets they created are all ready to be use in their full glory. nothing new needs to be created. Just add from time to time a new board exclusive to the overworld, to make it more fun. If you're thinking about profits, you're thinking wrong...
If you're thinking about profits first, you're thinking wrong... They need to build a game that's as fun as possible. We want gamers playing it, we want to compete with real games, not Axie Infinity
I dont see why people would do as many runs as humanly possible after the early phase of a new given set. This is similar to a pack opening, you are not supposed to be guaranteed to make money, its not a money printer.
I dont see what aspect of what me and @magic ruin said makes you think that we think about profit here.
Just doing a new board without any different dimensions is a great amount of dev work, 100s of hours.
I'm not really talking about earnings money, more of like getting more out of a Run than 2 illuvials
he said "make profits out of your runs" didnt he?
aren't devs supposed to put 100s hours of work into making the best game possible? how many hours of work do you think it took devs to make Cyberpunk get to this state with the new xpc? all AAA games we are competing against are trying to make the best games possible.
I know that making an efficient run on the overworld is not simple. but having every single encounter happen in the little square board WILL be boring and tiring to a lot of gamers and my suggestion was merely to improve (over time) the capturing overworld game as a whole.
of course people will keep playing overworld as much as possible after the early phase, looking for those holos with big stats and fusing stage 3 illuvials with top stats, no? because that will take a ton of time, not to mention crafting T5 Stage 3 weapons of different types and elements.
Btw, It's all just food for thought and discussion, of course. That's the idea. 🥰
It takes many bad ideas to find the good ones 🙃
He did indeed, i didnt intepret it literally and he confirmed its not what he meant. Being as effective as possible would be a more accurate statement.
You are right devs do put 100s of hours to make AAA games but those hours still have to be spent wisely and effectively.
I see where this is coming from and appreciate the intent but i dont think having different board form and size would increase user experience.
This is a change that require a lot of dev time and im not convinced it would do much. In fact, i believe it could be a source of potential frustration and even break the auto-battler side of OW in a sense.
don't you look at all the big illuvials we have and feel like the battle board is too small?
mammoth s3, Archeleon, Rhamphyre and one more that size take half the board i think
I sometimes get that impression
Some take their fair share of space but i dont feel its unreasonable or wrong at all. 11000 hex is plenty 😝
Rather than changing the size of the battle boards. Introduce obstacles, traps etc.
i think for the moment to lived like this ( how is now) after public beta to see if will improve the gameplay...maybe it's perfect like this maybe must change... but i think to concentrate on thinks that maters now, after we have time to change it.
Snake and ladder style
I think that would be awesome
but dont you feel like its a bit too small sometimes? I specially feel this when I am watching someone else play, not when I am playing
