Needing to deal with staking issues is never ideal. But, improving the interactions for stakers is an improvement for the DAO.
There are some stakers that will struggle to decide if claiming their small amount of Missing Rewards is worth the eth to pay for the gas. This is doubled by the fact that they will likely need to process a second Missing Rewards claim later at the end of yield farming in July 2024.
Two things have been mentioned by others and, if feasible, make sense to me.
**Enable sILV2 claims for Missing Rewards. **
While it is not currently the time to put blockchain devs on this task it seems like a good feature to add for the July 2024 Missing Rewards claims.
Reasoning: Claiming sILV2 entails only one transaction instead of eventually needing to pay to withdraw Fully Vested rewards 12-months later.
A question regarding timeline.
What is the purpose of ending the opportunity to make the 1st Missing Rewards claim with the end of 2023? sILV to sILV2 claims are still live and available and it’s a far older contract. Even if the current contract for claiming Missing Rewards needs to be turned off at the end of 2023 is it viable to allow Missing Rewards from this current time period (March 2022-August 2023) to be claimed in a single transaction along with the Missing Rewards from the rest of yield farming when the final Missing Rewards claims are activated?
Unfortunately, it seems likely that doing this would create higher gas costs and not end up providing significant improvements for small or large stakers.
Note: There’s some speculation here and some questions that would need answered before much else can be determined. But if there are other ways that you can think to improve the Missing Rewards claim process please share them here.
Note note: One potential idea is NFTs for stakers as has been mentioned as a possible staking function for quite some time now. While a gift basket can be a simple sign of good will after making a mistake in some circumstances, a beautifully rendered “Atlas Apologizes” NFT might serve to create good will for the DAO in these circumstances.
