Moving this from the Illuvium beyond channel:

If anyone here is familiar with HRO, they have a crafting mechanism in place. Every so often, they introduce a limited edition card and they dictate what needs to be burnt or fused to acquire this card. I think we can all benefit if Illuvium Beyond introduces a similar mechanism.

Imagine if every so often, the ILV team announces that you can get a limited edition Tier Illuvitar. For that edition, lets say T1 for example, you are required to burn 100 T1s. When you burn those T1s, you get a limited edition pack. That pack will give you a chance to get a preannounced familiar T1 with limited edition accessory and/or background (maybe similar to the gamestop pack concept). It can be structured differently depending on the Tier and the finish. % of drops and all that can be assessed and certain variations can occur if that is desired. Someone who is smarter can embellish on the specifics here of what makes sense/ what that should look like.

Having something like this can drive the secondary market up and give another utility, collection incentive and sink incentive. I don't think this takes away from game dev time. If it does, this should not take priority of course . If this also contradicts the mini card game, then also disregard.

To put this into perspectives and leveraging the post from Illuvihub , 5 days into wave 2 and there are more than 5K of multiple T1 illuvitars already. Many of us would love the opportunity to exchange our common mints for a chance of something more unique ...

Love this idea, like i said in the beyond channel too many T1s now with the price of standard d1sks, any additional utility is a positive. maybe something like a holo of an already existing background would be great because it wouldnt take any dev time. and like you mentioned if it doesnt take away from dev time or the future of the card game this would be a great addition.

FeelsWeirdMan or burn 10 tier 0 illuvitar/ accessory to get another disk , the number of burn will need to be calculated throughly, but will be a great way to burn off those T0 that no one can sell , since they also appear in every wave

The Substance mechanism is an Illuvitar burning mechanism. I don't know if much has been said about it, and what is and isn't official, but there are some snippets floating about discord.

With that in mind I don't know if we would want another burning mechanism... maybe, its not bad to have multiple options, at least for special events, but it seems a bit less important if we already have a burn mechanic.

Just did a quick search on it, seem like as Johnny said, will need to see the new burn mechanic in work before we think about this one.

I'd want to see a polished version of Substance, before I make a decision.
But I have to say some gears started turning in my head already.

Remember the diskplate of GS illuvitars? Now what if we allow burning of X illuvitars from 1 wave in order to receive access to print such diskplate for that wave?

This does 2 things that are great:

  1. Increases floor values of illuvitars.
  2. Increases revenue of the Merch store.

Love it. Team need to plan ideas like these to keep them interested in buying selling on secondary market. Only leaderboard is not enough at all to keep people interested...

it has been mentioned a few times, but its not really something that is going to have much impact until the Open Beta

I’m mostly a fan of burning mechanisms like this. It would make me as an IB player want to hold onto “junk” illuvitars or at least think twice about getting rid of them. Great idea ser and ty for it! 🔥🔥

Seems like there is significant interest in exploring the introduction of a burning mechanism, but it should be kept in mind that there is a burning mechanism that will be coming into play with substance once we hit open beta. (Ideally in Q4 23')

Personally I would hesitate to introduce an additional method of burning without us being able to see the affects of the substance method first.

That being said whether this goes to proposal would be up to you as the OP and if that is something you would like to do I'd be more than happy to assist you in forming it Atlas_Love What are your thoughts?
