Bring back reactions in #feedback-ideas posts

It's really hard to understand if people agree with certain points when made if people can't support them with reactions.

Maybe limit what reactions can be added if it's a spam concern.

But now I feel like I have to spam, that I agree with someone's comment in an ideas post, in order to show my support with it.

My understanding is that you can’t limit what emotes are usable only in a single channel/thread. You can only limit an entire server.

Well there goes one part of the discussion. I at least think that there is value in collecting sentiment in reactions instead of only messages.

I am on board with this, there are many people who don't type simply because their thoughts have already been put into words. I feel the pros of emojis outweigh the cons in this situation.

Remember someone saying that it meant people only react to the idea itself, but thats not a good reason why someone should type agreement to a specific message rather than through emote, saves space and includes those that dont like typing as much…

@wild venture is there a good reason from an execution standpoint why this may not be doable?

Not to mention your 4 emoji “replies” have taken up basically an entire page on my iPhone, clearly making the chat less clear and efficient, had those been reactions it wouldnt waste space and those that agree without reaction could also react without completely obliterating this entire chat with emojis

The decision to remove reactions was overreach imo. You want to make a change you follow the same process as everyone else.

That's why I'm not asking for council members to vote on this. It's not a project related thing. I simply think it'll improve discussions in channels with timeouts.

Hey Artemis. I'm thinking that going through concil for this is an overkill. Reactions were removed without proposal. We should be able to bring the back without one, also.

When someone who can manage the discord channel has time to do it. They should just do it.

I think it's not that easy to bring them back so easily.
Sometimes things can't be made even if we reach 1000 👍. There is a reason why it was removed.

My understanding from that message was that if we brought them back then we would have the same issue as before where anyone can place emojis at the start of post. So you could have 13 👍 2 👎 🔥 etc.

That being said, so long as it is made clear that no emojis other than 👍 or 👎 will count toward an idea going to a vote than I don't see the harm.

Many people are silent listeners or don't want to voice their own opinions because they don't want to get dragged into heated debates. That being said they do want to be heard and adding positive or negative style emojis to messages are a way for the community to participate who maybe don't feel comfortable directly chatting. It's my opinion that the pros outweigh the cons.

I agree that this shouldn't have to go through a proposal, and I've messaged Jeremey to talk through the matter more thoroughly. But someone has posted it and it has reached enough support, so if Jeremy continues to say no and @gleaming sierra wants to push the matter to make it happen anyways then as a representative of the community I will support it.

but we need rules for them, like the clown emoji. its disrespectful if someone post this one on a idea of someone.
personally i don´t need much more than 👍 👎 maybe . but not much more than that.
but i think its not about the idea itself. its more for messages in that channel. to react to them. thats what its all about.

True, and if there are any additional security risks beyond just not having certain emojis like a clown or a poop that is information I'd like to be made aware of. There could certainly be more to the situation that I don't understand.

The thing that I dislike is that unless someone with moderator powers does an emoji first I am unable to thumbs up or thumbs-down messages within the ideas thread. I can only thumbs up or thumbs down the idea itself. Sometimes people want to support points made within the discussion themselves, but at the moment are relegated to actually typing I agree, much like the point Vetemore made above.

When it comes down to the rules, I would seek to better define the rules of language used in the discord before things like clown or poop emojis. But again all of this is running into my personal opinions.

Then shouldnt these people who put disrespectful emojis be sanctioned rather than punish the rest of the community? Free speech is good but doesnt excuse them from the responsibility of what they say or in this case what emoji they put 😄

the problem is, there is no rule against emojis like clown or pop emoji.
yes we can remove them but we are not online 24/7. i try to put up 👍 👎 evertime i see a new idea. like blickter and the other mods too.
i get that with the reactions to the message. its same as in general. but if you enable them for messages they enable for the Idea/feedback too. you can´t separate them.
i am fully with you. but only with rules.
lets say for the ideas only 👍 👎 and if someone put another emoji in it, it will get removed.
for messages its open if its not disrespectful.
but we should wait until the new ideas feedback channel Idea from community sub.c. is presented.

**Update: **After discussion between the CSC and Illuvium Team regarding emoji use it was decided that emojis will once again be brought back to the Ideas channel and does not require us to go through the proposal process. The change should be made soon. @gleaming sierra
