#Add incentives to orders on the merch store

There are a few ways to add incentives to merch store purchases, that will both incentivise people to buy merch, but also incentivise people that buy merch to purchase other items in the ecosystem.

Some examples:

  • Timed event - every order in a certain period receives a wave 2 standard d1sk.
  • Disks for every order.
  • Tiered system - over $100 - standard d1sk, over $200 - mega d1sk.

Giving people a taste of the illuvitars will get them involved in that product.

Extra: Accessory d1sks created for the merch store that just have <some amount> accessories inside them. - This can further incentivise people to buy d1sks in order to get illuvitars they can bond to.

Or maybe a future emote disks. Anything to spice up the merch store 🙂

If giving d1sks for any item is too much, maybe for every order?

Are you coming with this because the price of Merch is higher than you'd like? 45-85$ for shorts or a hoodie is quite a bit for me as well. But wouldn't it make sense to add 8$ extra because you are basically buying a d1sk alongside the hoodie that has a set production cost? Wouldn't this just decrease revenue for the DAO by giving away freebies, while I expect the merch to be set at a certain value to even out cost/profit?

This is definitely a concern, there needs to be an evaluation to whether increasing merch store revenue is better than increasing d1sks revenue.

I'm willing to argue that pushing people for the merch store is better because, when you give them d1sks, yes some of them will sell them, but some will open them and maybe want to collect a bit more items.

As an example for this I regularly see big stores in my country give away collectible stickers/toys with purchases. Then they also sell albums and extra packs just of those collectibles. If this was not a profitable practice, they wouldn't be doing it.

We already promised wave 2 disks and emote disks to buyers. We could say they also took money away from the DAO, but it's just not that straigth forward.

Same as giving discount codes to people is not losing us let's say 10% of the profit. It's incentivising people to spend the other 90%.

I'd say that this could be an event of some sort. "Purchase this now to get an exclusive Illuvitar d1sk" or what not. If you make adding a d1sk to each purchase the rule, then Illuvium can't step away from that.

I do think it could push people to buying more merch, similar to what you stated, it is being used by major companies all the time. But I would like to give the team a way for them to sometimes put a spotlight on the merch rather than forever devaluing what they sell.

I bet someone from marketing or strategy would have much more interesting takes on this though haha

Next thing I'd like to push is to add merch store discount codes to those gamestop disks.

There can even be "Accessories d1sks" created for the merch store that just have X accessories inside them. - This can further incentivise people to buy d1sks in order to get illuvitars they can bond to.

As it is now, there are not enough accessories to bond to every illuvial. D1sks have just 3 accessories, but 2 illuvitars(that can use up to 10 total accessories). So there will even be market for such disks.
