#Tournament accolades and medals for illuvials.

Official illuvium tournaments are going to be very special events. Hosted in T5 stadiums, these epic showdowns will pit the best and brightest rangers against each other for all to see. A way of honouring those participants would be to bond a medal or accolade to each illuvial that takes part. These illuvials will have there medals with them wherever they go in the future. Telling a story of thier achievements and naming the Ranger that owned them at the time. Clicking the medal would bring up text description

Is this possible from a technical perspective? Is this even a good idea or not? Would love your thoughts on this guys.

Interesting. Would be like the Illuvials creating their own story

Are you suggesting having a medal designed and worn by the illuvial? Or just adding it to the UI?

and i made some research, Ribbons were added to Pokémon for different achievements in-game since Gen3 (2003)

So i'd suggest we add ribbons and just like in Pokémon, Esports presence could be a ribbon but a lot of other cool in-game achievements could be added here: This illuvium defeated X amount of players in PvP
This Illuvium traveled 1000 times in this region, etc

# brave stag Just adding it to the UI.

if its just adding it to the UI then I think this is a complete no-brainer (and actually something I would have thought would already have been implemented)

another pro for this is since there won't be any proper e-sports tourneys for at least the first 6 months after launch, this can be implemented post launch if it wasn't already planned for launch

@viscid brook you mentioned recently in a video your frustration about hacked pokémon. Is this idea something you'd like to see in Illuvium?

Definitely something to add to the list post launch // pre-first ever Official Illuvium E-sports Championship. If it does not take away time from other crucial dev time.

I am all for this as it expands the story behind specific illuvials.

We would need to fine tune the idea and verbiage - consideration would need to be taken towards the Tier5 land owners that can host esports events, would they need approvals for each tournament? Is there a criteria to meet? Will Illuvium Labs charge a design fee for the "custom accolades" ? (this could be an additional revenue stream 😉)

Last point - of course this portion would be "pre-launch" or "accolades" can be added after this is implemented since the information is on the blockchain

*** THIS COULD BE A PERFECT LOCATION TO HAVE MAJOR ACCOLADES ADDED ***

  • 1ST (FUSED OR CAPTURED) RHAMPHYRE
  • 1ST DARK HOLO ATLAS
  • 1ST HOLO MONKIER

etc.

Love this idea a lot.

Wow, this idea is mind-blowing! I'm beyond excited to see if it could actually be implemented in the game. You, my friend, are an absolute genius for coming up with this idea imo 🧠

From what I understand this would probably be a Web 2 solution. Whereas the data on the server gets updated rather than the nft. Not sure if thats a risk at all but yeah

Creating value and additional prizes more or less out of thin air sounds good, interesting part would prob be what cutoffs you use, how specific you make the engravings etc.
(Assuming there aren’t big dev costs, time needed for this)

Very cool idea GHamster!

Id love to see this implemented. It gives ownership of the illuvials more value. Even if the UI doesnt show it yet I hope the achievements and milestones are already recorded in the meta data.

it's a phenomenal idea in part bc you can't do this without a blockchain

Check out aavegotchi, each NFT has it's own 'pocket', which can contain both tokens and NFTs. In this case, for each season, Badges are awarded, which are soulbound NFTs, therefore they are bound forever to the NFT. These could allow some aditional cosmetic 'utility' in game/websites/displays, for example imagine an extra glow or particle effect. All of this is on-chain.

# brave stag Official illuvium tournaments are going to be very special events. Hosted in T5 ...

My understanding was this was already planned to some level.

Don't quote me, but I remember that there will be a record of who caught/fused the illuvial and then owners after.

I'm very supportive of this and potentially even more. There could be a whole history/illuviagraphy tab on an illuvial.

However, I would also put most of this in the post launch bucket of ideas.

The only accolade I really want to push for right now is a record of the original ranger who caught/fused. That should be implemented before launch imo.

Yeah I was mindful of the team potentially working on an idea similar to this before posting. However I wanted to bring it up so the community had a chance to contribute on how this aspect of illuvials could play out.

I also agree that this is a post launch idea. However our horizons in #1020759212172775464 need to move beyond launch now imo. Discussions looking towards 6 to 12 months post launch are valid.

# eager flower Just a quick question since I guess you know more than me about this. Can we cha...

Yes I'm pretty sure we can.

This is my understanding of it from minting a couple collections on the imx sandbox marketplace:

I'm assuming Illuvium is using an IPFS.
The ipfs(database where the Metadata is stored) can be edited and will be visible when any changes are made. Specifically with ID number, I believe it is possible to burn an NFT and replace it with the exact one.

I also think @proud loom is following a pfp project that is already/planning to have this ability.

But just to be clear I have little experience and there are many additional layers you can add to IPFS(or code in general) that could complicate or possible make it impossible to change.
