I would like to have a constructive discussion around the reasoning of withholding the lore from the DAO and the possibility of releasing it via a proposal.

In the context of gaming, "lore" provides players with a deeper understanding of the game world and its inhabitants, adding depth and context to the gameplay experience.

Lore serves several purposes in gaming including the establishment of rules and constraints that govern the game’s universe.

From what I understand a key member of the team was adamant that if we have an open studio that releases constant leaks of game progress, it was asked if lore could be withheld.

Pros and cons of releasing lore.

Pros:
Currently, tens of thousands of players are participating in beta tests for the game, providing feedback and ideas, without much knowledge of the game's lore. However, a community that is familiar with the world and the story that governs it can offer more informed feedback and generate better ideas. By involving the community people won’t be wasting their time making suggestions and writing proposals that conflict with it. Moreover, the lore itself is a crucial element of Illuvium, and having a community that comprehends it can greatly contribute to the game's development. If the community is involved in providing feedback on other aspects of the game, why should the lore be an exception?

Cons:
Sharing the lore with the community might upset some current team members who have been closely guarding it as a secret. I apologize to those individuals but encourage them to voice their concerns. Many gamers may prefer not to know the lore before playing the game, as they want to experience the story without any spoilers. Keeping the lore a secret can add an element of intrigue and entice people to play the game in order to discover it on their own.

No. Let Aaron make the decision when to release the lore

The gatekeeping of the lore has progressively felt a bit stranger as time goes on. I imagine there will be a tipping point where holding it back will be more counterproductive for community engagement than the 'cool surprise' aspect is worth. If it's not fully conceptualised and nailed down then I understand, as once it's out it's hard to change without consequences - although it would surprise me if this was the case for most of the lore at this stage. I would like to hear the rationalisation from the team Atlas_Love

One wouldn't expect a megadump of lore of course, I would imagine there's a planned way to release it that has just been delayed by default by the development delays

I agree. If the community’s contribution is valuable then I would imagine it would only be more so with knowledge of the lore. There’s a chance it’s not completely conceptualised though OB is “scheduled” for end of the year so I assume it would be.
