Posting on behalf of the great @ivory coral who swung by #💬〕general with an idea…

Hey - who is in charge of marketing at Illuvium? No I'm not here to sell anything lol. I've just been reading Jason Zhou's posts recently about referral marketing and I don't have some proposed solution but i think Illuvium is creative enough to come up with something like these to drive users to the game:

Forgive me if this isn't the right place to post this. I am not shilling some solution I made around referral marketing. I am giving ideas off of other projects (there is another one I'll post as well when the timer goes down).

I'm not recommending we use $30m of our treasury like this but if we can come up with a flywheel that works for Illuvium then it's a win.

Loss aversion is a powerful tool to design your incentive & reward programs.

BC GAME (web3 casino) adopted it IRL and generated $300M+ referrals

Here is how their system works 🧵...

Referral/affiliate marketing is a hugely underutilized growth channel in web3

It generated:

  • 30% of volume for Lido
  • $11B trading volume for GMX

I analyzed 6 web3 projects to try to understand how BIG this could be.

Here's the data I collected 🧵

Maybe @modest ridge or @agile dome have some thoughts on this.

I believe there's an element of this behind the scenes. But I am open to listen to even more ways this can go down the rabbit hole. How deep can your affiliate marketing get?

Is there a way to utilise the community alongside influencers. Is there a key way to attract large or Web 2 influencers

@potent steppe is a lot more knowledgeable on this subject than myself.

In regards to affiliate marketing I’ve been working on something in regards to the influencers involved in our Creator Program. It’s currently in development but for me personally it’s a priority for my department.

#

I completely understand how powerful this is and it completely plays into our ethos of high quality. A higher quality creator with real influence will in turn generate more for themselves. This takes away a lot of transactional opportunists that we come across in the influencer space.

#

I am very open to hearing ideas for influencers as well as for the wider protocol regarding affiliate / referral marketing!

I just came to #1020759212172775464 because I wanted to give my idea about something like this. But I found this topic so will continue the conversation here.

I think something like Support-A-Creator or Referral Code is a great idea for Illuvium. Something similar to what Epic is using. (more info about that at https://www.epicgames.com/affiliate/en-US/overview)

Basically:
Give content creators a code that players can use while purchasing something. It can be only the Store online, but it can also be Illuvium Zero marketplace and other things like that. From the purchase that uses creators code, the creator is getting a % of that purchase that he can then use in an online store or on marketplace.

Positives:
Marketing, I guess.

Negative:
Again, stakers might be angry because it's not 100% of revenue going to stakers.

I have a lot of other ideas and would be happy to spit them out and engage in a conversation. But I know I'm not the perfect person for marketing. But in my opinion having something like Support-A-Creator is a good idea.

*edit: this might be different then what is suggested in the original post. But I think it's the same category and we don't need new ideas.

I agree with the fact that referral marketing should be more used. It has a lot of benefits when it comes to network effect and we could use that to attract content creators from gaming or other web3 projects with their communities into Illuvium.

But like @slate pine says: We would have to find ways and numbers to convince the most sceptical DAO members that might be shy about giving up on even a small portion of their earnings.

I totally agree. For me referral marketing is a no brainer. But we as the whole DAO need to find the best solution. I, like Zeptyle, think that we need a conversation going around the community so that we can have the best thing possible in the end.
I don’t want another Alpha D1sk where we have the solution and a fix to that solution in a week. We have time to do this right.
