Idea: Similar to "The Last Illuvial", players design the concept for the new Illuvials. The theme this time is a new creature concept, something that is mostly unique and doesn't exist yet, but can certainly have aspects inspired by existing or mythical creatures. When the next wave of Illuvials are to be created the gamers will have more understanding of the lore to better ensure their Illuvial fits into the world. Those in the community can again come up with an Illuvial, how it might look, its name, class, attributes, attacks, etc. The Illuvium team can then choose from these and create what they will based on the inspiration of each player designed Illuvial.
How winners are chosen: Unlike "The Last Illuvial" there doesn't need to be a reward incentive submissions, as having ones own Illuvial design incorporated in the game(s) is incentive enough. Also, if there are many more submissions than will be created it can be entirely up to the Illuvium team to choose, or a community vote could be done (since there's no financial incentives for winners) and each voter could be voting on all submissions through a ranking system.
*Some benefits: *
**1. Increased Engagement: **
Allowing the community to submit their own Illuvial concepts would increase player engagement and investment in the game
**2. Many Fresh Ideas: **
With a large pool of ideas coming from this amazingly creative community, the game would have access to new and innovative concepts for Illuvials, keeping the game fresh and exciting
**3. Community Ownership: **
By allowing the community to contribute to the game, a sense of ownership and investment in the game's success would be fostered
**4. Decentralized Decision Making: **
With voting the community would have a direct say in the game's direction and evolution, leading to a more community-driven experience
**5. Direct Feedback: **
-Illuvium would be tapping into a new source of very driven, inspired, passionate, and free concepts to create from

Originally I had more to say regarding each benefit but it got to be too long. Here’s what I had:

  1. If community voting occurs then even those who don't submit anything can still enjoy having input on choosing new Illuvials, creating immediate fans of these Illuvials
-Also the community is contributing to the actual work of conceiving and designing these new Illuvials, taking some of the burden off of the designers to come up with while also increasing player engagement and investment into the game!
  2. The Illuvium team receives many options that individuals spent a great deal of time and effort coming up with, and that they care deeply about; but still the team has the final say on what they want to create. For example, if way too many submissions come in of a single class or attribute, the team can decide that a chosen Illuvial will have a different class/attribute/attack/etc. from what the player's concept originally was. This whole process would be a collaborative development experience that is entirely new in gaming!
  3. as well as great feedback regarding what things the community likes and wants to see. By having a direct connection with the community through community submissions, the art team and developers would receive direct feedback on what the players want and what they are interested in, potentially leading to more player-focused development.

Final Thoughts: Anything that allows the community to contribute to Illuvium is what makes it so new and unique in gaming. The Illuvium team itself is benefited by increased inspiration, collaboration, visibility, and feedback, leading to a more fulfilling and impactful development experience. By tapping into the creativity and passion of the community, everyone benefits!

Speaking purely for myself, I'd sincerely hope we don't make a habit of asking our community to spend "a great deal of time and effort" working for free so we can farm their ideas. A fun one off contest is one thing, but making it a policy for an entire batch seems pretty immoral.

Maybe we could get a lot of similar benefits and engagement by having the team draw up initial designs/sketches, and have the community vote on which ones to take forward? Or something similar? Seems like a much less exploitative way of doing business.

Just my 2 cents.

No one could be "exploited" in this as it's in no way compulsory, it's free for whoever wants to take part. Speaking for myself, and I would easily imagine many others in the community, I would love to create something (for free), even just the beginning idea/concept for an illuvial, because I would love to see it one day be part of the Illuvium world.

Submitting an illuvial idea/concept is the fun creative part! The more labor intensive part would be on the Illuvium team to actually take the concept and make it real. But at the very least it would be giving the team lots of fresh community inspired ideas to choose from.

I put this initial idea out here because I believe it would benefit everyone, further aspects of Illuvium as a DAO and advance the revolutionary factor of player's ability to contribute to game content/mechanics. Again, it's an idea that could be workshopped based on what the community thinks, and at the very least it could just be a fun experience for the community that simply provides the team with feedback and concepts the active community would enjoy seeing.
