Background: Hi, Im a gamer like "you" 🫵 . The difference might be that I love to listen to my own music when I play games, in games such as LoL, Diablo, Fifa... I have done this for many years, I basically listen to all kinds of music depending on the mood.

Anyway the idea I have is a soundtrack you can have playing in the background of the auto-battler game. Like all games I think, music playing in-game should be optional, meaning that you can switch this on and off.
The songs I have for you are some of songs from the album: Hungry 5. (I describe this kinda music as melodic techno/elektro/house fitting for such a futuristic game.)

I recommend listening to these songs while watching this video from the developers (on mute): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raffGmCZ0QM

The 5 songs from the album:

This is just a suggestion. Nothing wrong with it, but I would love to hear your opinion and suggestions on this matter.

Illuvium: Overworld LIVE raw gameplay in 2K 60FPS being played on an RTX 3080 with max graphics. Hosted by Andrew Wall with developer walkthrough from Andrei (Overworld Lead), Ben (Head of Design), and Aaron Warwick (Co-Founder).

This is a cool idea. An extension of it that I could see (potentially) providing value:

Through partnerships with artists, have access to soundtracks gated behind NFTs, which would provide a new revenue stream, and a compelling reason for artists to allow their music to be used in game.

I do think some kind of added incentive to own soundtracks would have to exist, otherwise people would just listen to music on YouTube or equivalent for free. Could potentially integrate this in a way where you could listen in to your opponent's current soundtrack in Arena, or tune into what a guild member is listening to in guild. Making it a social experience would provide a reason to obtain access to soundtracks in game.

I wouldn't act on this in the short term, but it is a super interesting idea!

Right, so basically Illuvium would pay out of pocket for rights to whatever music/soundtracks, and provide it to players?

In that scenario, I don't see a ton of value. I like Illuvium's music as it is, plus people can just go listen to music on a 3rd party site if they want to listen to something that isn't the in-game music. I think there would have to be some gamification or revenue stream for me to be interested, because as it stands, this idea would result in Illuvium paying to create our own in-game music AND for separate music from artists, with no major benefit to the DAO.

I do think there are variations on this idea that could provide value to both players and the DAO though.

Soundtrack makes for a better game 100%. When you make a game for millions of people, it need to be good quality and soundtrack is a must in this game. If intended to play this for hours and hours you should make it a pleasant time and music does that. Yeah you can listen to a third party site for music, if you know how to set the mood for the game, but most people does not know how to set the mood, so it is up to the developers to do that. Many people will download, log in and play, if the game is engaging and music does that, if not then they will stop playing, log out or quit. Pokemon the most simple game has soundtrack, why shouldnt Illuvium?

Or do you feel there explicitly has to be music in the game? I.E. songs.
