The game used to run just fine with no problems. Then Microsoft scared me into a windows 11 upgrade during the last end of support warnings. Everything seems to be fine in win11. But Teardown just doesn't run anymore.

Happened in October 2025. Still doing it.

__Symptoms: __
In steam, click play, a window opens all white. Then closes and the button goes back to Green and states Play.
I went to gear>properties>installed file> Verify integrity of game files.
No problems
Next I went to betas & tried all the versions here.
Nothing changed. They all failed.

System:
OS: Windows 11
OS Build: 26100.7171
GPU: Radeon RX Vega 56 8GB
DirectX version: 12 (FL 12.1)
Driver: 24.20.11001.32002
Driver date:11/13/2018
CPU: Ryzen 7 2700
RAM: 32GB

No mods
Just miss playing the game.

Would it be possible to check or send a system report (steps below)?

  1. Press Windows+R, which should open a small window in the bottom left corner
  2. Type dxdiag and press enter, answer yes to the pop-up to accept that it collects system information
  3. Let the program finish. There will be a green progress bar in the lower left corner of the window
  4. Click the "Save all information" button, save it to the desktop or somewhere you can find it later
  5. Send the dxdiag.txt file via DMs

I didn't see any obvious issue with your system but let's try this as a first step: download the 64-bit version of this repair tool from Microsoft, and run the repair procedure. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170#latest-supported-redistributable-version

Make sure you download the x64 variant, or just use the direct download link here: https://aka.ms/vc14/vc_redist.x64.exe

This article provides download links for the latest Visual C++ Redistributable packages.

Okay installed. Now what? It forced a reboot.

If the game still doesn't start, send the crash logs:

  1. Make a new folder on the desktop
  2. Press Windows+R, which should open a small window in the bottom left corner
  3. Type each line shown below, e.g., "%localappdata%\CrashDumps" in the dialog box, and press enter, repeat for all locations.
  • "%localappdata%\CrashDumps"
  • "%localappdata%\Teardown\crash"
  • "%localappdata%\Teardown" (look for log.txt)
  1. Copy all files in the folders you've opened to your new folder on the desktop
  2. Right-click the new folder, select "send to", and choose compressed (zipped) folder
  3. Make the new .zip file, and send it as an attachment (over DMs)

The dxdiag file also contains some system information. Here's how to create one:

  5. Attach the dxdiag.txt file (to the DM)

Thank you for the support. It's fixed now. I had to reinstall the graphics drivers. I'm guessing windows 11 upgrade didn't account for it & broke the drivers even though it was reporting correctly & playing other games.

I reinstalled them bc drive beyond horizon (game) gave an automated warning to me to reinstall it.
