#TSR-era's style of demihuman class and level limits

I personally have a few disjointed thoughts about this. In 1E, Elves, Dwarves and all non-human player races have level caps as a way to add game balance. This contradicts to the idea that almost all demi-humans live much longer than ordinary humans. Only humans had unlimited advancement in character classes.
In addition, there was a chart that represented the typical attitude of the demi-human races to humans and each other. This was considered a guide, not a hard, fast rule for players to follow. Having said that, facing discrimination as a half-orc was also considered an in-game drawback to a non-human race (and it could lead to role-playing).
