How do I find a game?

There might not be a game right now, but they are posted regularly in this server! Long-form games, called campaigns, are posted in #dnd-campaigns. Short-form games, called one-shots, are posted in #dnd-one-shots. A one-shot is more of a pick-up game, where the adventure starts and finishes in a single session.

To join a game on this server, you have to #verify. Once you're done with that, use #798832230725451826 to pick up the ones that will ping for your campaigns, one-shots, or both depending on your interests. One-shots are more common due to their nature. Also, not all campaigns will ping the role. So it won't hurt to check out the channel occasionally.

We have a big community here to just hang out, have a good time, and talk about the game in #main-hall-dnd-chat and life or other interests in #the-tavern-off-topic. There's some good starting info to learn the game in #helpful-links, and you can ask questions in #main-hall-dnd-chat or #973138613695025182.

Hangout Area (under #music-bots) is where people hang out in voice! A good number of games are formed by people deciding that they're gonna start a one-shot or even a campaign together! Not all games are posted to game channels, DMs also sometimes find players in voice channels!

Lastly consider diving into the world of DMing yourself and make your own game! Head on to #first-time-dming to get started. DMs are what make the game possible in the first place, and since you host the game it will always happen when you want it! We have a large community of DMs willing to help you in #973138665691828244.

I also recommend reddit and the discords of any YouTube DND creator

If online: Find a discord where people talk and hang out and have fun and talk about TTRPGs (this discord actually a pretty good example). Find a few. Start talking, be social, build social capital, and then when people like having you around, build a group up or just get invited into a game.

If offline: Leave. The. House. Find social groups on meetup.com, on your local city subreddit, go to your local FLGS and check the corkboard or ask around. Find local nerd groups or board game groups or whatever social groups you can. Get in, meet people, find some people to play with, go ham.

Either online or offline: your life becomes so, so, so much easier if you GM. When you run games, you make games happen, finding players is so much easier than trying to get lucky to find a GM. Near as I can tell, players outnumber GMs somewhere between 20-1 and 50-1. It doesn't matter if you've never done it before, you can figure it out. It's not that hard, people do it all the time, and you have so many tools at your disposal.
