pls post a link to this extender
i just dont think that it will work with "plug & play", because you have 2 wifi adapter and you have to switch to the second one. but therefore we would need some "debugoutput" like lsusb, when the connector is plugged in.
ok. this is no "wifi extender", this is a "wifi adapter" (as i already thought, because of the USB in the question)
Will it still work
as i wrote above. it will work, but its not "plug & play"
Getting it to work isn't related to Mainsail, it's just getting it to work on a Raspberry Pi in Linux.
That’s why I put the Linux tag.
Ahh, I'm new here too so don't quite know the culture yet. Just pointing out that getting this adapter to work isn't something folks on this Mainsail-focused Discord may be willing to handle.
yeah, thats why we also add this tag, when it is "just a linux topic"
and i think @dim geyser will be the best helper here
Hey there, as soon I am at home I'll try to help, but most Wifi Dongles that have no listing in Linux support, do not work or need special workarounds. Also if you didnt already fiddle with networks on linux I would recommend plugging in the pi to ethernet, just in case something wents wrong and you loose connectivity... For now, plug the dongle in and post output of lsusb and sudo dmesg | grep wlan
I’ll try the Ethernet cable. Does it just connect automatically or do I have to set that up as well? Also my rpi just keeps shutting off and turning back on randomly. I have it plugged into a wall and I’ve tried my surge protector as well and it keeps doing that. I ordered a power supply for it that gets here tomorrow but just wondering if it’s the maybe the outlet or the cable that is bad?
@dim geyser
If you use the IP address to connect to it, pay attention, that ethernet will get a different IP address then WiFi.
Btw there is no need to ping any of the crew, if he's already in the thread.
Well, if your pi is constantly resetting itself, there is a much bigger problem then your Wifi, ig.
Please solve that issue first before continueing. Doesnt make sense to change something if the SBC doesnt run stable
@cobalt kettle any news on that? If not, consider to close the post please.
