I'm installing MainsailOS through R Pi app for creating SD card, after successfull installation when i restart R Pi i get this error (as on the screen) because R Pi is dead i do not have access to log
Please check a different sdcard
I tried 4/5 different cards
Could you please flash a version of Raspberry Pi OS legacy in 64bit variant for comparisant?
I checked my R Pi its 32bit, if you still think I should give it a try sure I can, I'm using this software for creating OS SD card https://www.raspberrypi.com/software/
Well, as the screenshot states it is an Pi3b which is capable to run 64bit OS.
The issue is that it cant find the rootfs, thats why the kernel ends with an kernel panic
So, either there happends something during the flashing process or your pi is damaged somehow
Ah I got it, actually RPi imager has only 64bit version on it, but my R Pi is 32 bit please refer to attached image
actually i was already setting it up with 64 bit that means may be i need 32 bit version, can you please help me where can i get 32bit as its not in the list
No, as I said its not 32bit...
And I explained to you the issue already, if it where like you said an issue with the architecture you wont be able to show a screenshot with a kernel panic, because the screen would stay blank, because the bootloader cant load any kernel...
The only Pi that is 32-bit only is the Pi 1 (and the Zero/Zero W, same SoC), everything since the Pi 2 is 64-bit capable, including the Pi Zero 2W, though the Pi 4 is the first one to make a stronger argument for 64-bit due to offering more RAM.
Its not only the RAM that can benefit from larger address size 🙂 But it isnt feasible to provide data from synthetic benchmarks to prove the 0.000001% improve in performance 😉
That is strange, actually i googled and i found a command to run to see if its a 64bit or 32bit and i found mine 32bit, and it made me believing its type.
Depending on the way you check, you may have looked at the OS's bit size, not the CPU's.
If you asked about the kernel (uname), it will tell you what it was compiled for, not what the CPU is.
Ok, then prove this please how you run any command if you are currently not able to boot at all.
got its, that's what exactly i did
Going to guess they ran stuff before trying a MainsailOS install.
In my post i stated, that i successfully setup my R Pi, installing and running 3D Printer everything was good, after that if i shutdown my R Pi and later turn it on i got the booting issue that i shared
And thats what I want to clearify at this point, therefore waiting on a screenshot of a booting 64bit version of Raspberry PiOS legacy...
and this shutting down and never cameback happended to me at lest 4/5 times, i tried to get help on reddit but no success while looking at git repo i found link to discord that's how i reach here 🙂
So, if you use Raspberry Pi OS legacy and shutdown the pi, it never comes back up again?
Yes, its strange that while setting up process, like update installing 3D printer i many time restarted it, (no sure may be shutdown too) but when i shutdown it for longer time like 1 hour or more came back it does not run at all, now I'm setting up on a new R Pi3 B+ lets see what happens
Well, I dont know what you need to setup but if you use mainsailos you need nothing to setup 🤷♂️
Also just a hint, on first boot it resizes the OS image to the size of your sdcard and if you renamed the user (than using the default pi user) it can take up to 20 minutes for a successful firstboot. If you interrupt this process it possibly kills the rootfs, which shows exactly the same behavior and error message as your screenshot
But if you use a plain Raspberry Pi OS and face this issue everytime its unlikely your Pi is damaged. It kills simply the root filesystem then
@gentle sand I believe you were right my both R Pi are damaged
