#Pi Camera Detected but no Image

Most likely a fake v1, so please follow this:

My pi is no longer detecting the camera. I've decided to order an officially branded one from Amazon and return this one to the store. The extra money spent will make up for the hassle I've had trying to troubleshoot this. For future reference, and those that come after me I would highly recommend **NOT **buying this one from Microcenter. https://www.microcenter.com/product/615104/inland-1080p-mini-camera-for-raspberry-pi
I truly appreciate your help
Make sure that the print is like on the lower picture, then it should be a genuine one
I think that explains it. The one I currently have mirrors the above top model in that image.
The most important part is the print on the cable. That is nearly always like the top one for fakes.
I think the PCB layout can differ from revision to revision, so you shouldn't look on that too exactly
Not the white cable. The small one on the PCB
The white ribbon cable is same for every cam. Only the PCB and sensor differs.
And the way to identify is with the cable of the sensor to the PCB, the orange cable.
Yeah, like you already said, it's fake. My point was only to be vary while buying a new one
I should have known based on the price. Shame that Microcenter would carry this. I expect more from them.
I'll know what to look for when I receive my replacement. Do you have any alternatives to the picam that you would recommend? Something affordable and compact that easily mounts to 1515 extrusions.
Only a shame that it's labeled as Raspberry Pi Camera. Overall noone knew that there is a difference, as those worked exactly the same until now when everyone starts to use libcamera. So those cams will get less over time, as no one can use them on a fresh installation.
Nope. I'm using a picam myself. Those are the best option for the price tag, but they can make the most trouble.
