Flashed with sd card and changed the mcu in printer.cfg but still on startup window

graceful ledge
#

Again like in your last post, please post a screenshot and a log that we have something to work with

obtuse maple
#

then it goes after some time to a mcu error

#

this time i have the klipper.service

#

i removed the second instance

#

made only one

graceful ledge
#

Please make a rollover for the klippy.log

obtuse maple
#

did it

#

resend ?

graceful ledge
#

Wait shortly and then resend

obtuse maple
graceful ledge
#

You waited not long enough, it didn't start yet ^^
Please send it again

obtuse maple
#

oh okay XD

#

rn i have this message

graceful ledge
#

Can you send ls /dev/serial/by-id

obtuse maple
#

usb-1a86_USB_Serial-if00-port0

graceful ledge
#

Ok then, I can't help you with that. You have to wait until someone with more expertise comes across this post

obtuse maple
#

grr

#

okay

#

thanks anyway 🙂

What mcu board do you use. E.g. the creative boards have a usb/serial bridge and will always do the ID regardless if klipper or marlin is installed

#

So to make it clear I doubt that you flashed the board successfully

obtuse maple
#

what do you mean by board ?

#

is it the pc that runs klipper ?

#

or the mcu inside

#

inside the sovol is a stm32f103 clone i thinl

#

think*

#

and im using an old laptop with a i5 inside

red galleon
#

The mcu board is the printer control board, the board that connects your motors, heaters, fans …

obtuse maple
#

oh okay

#

lemme check on sovol website

red galleon
#

stm3f103 is a micro processor, many boards use it but you need the exact setup for your board.

obtuse maple
#

yes

#

i took that printer.cfg

#

and changed the mcu path

red galleon
#

Ok have you followed that instructions ```# This file contains pin mappings for the stock Sovol SV06

To use this config, during "make menuconfig" select the

STM32F103 with a "28KiB bootloader" and serial (on USART1 PA10/PA9) communication.

Also, since it is using the GD32F103, please select Disable SWD at startup

Flash this firmware by copying "out/klipper.bin" to a SD card and

turning on the printer with the card inserted. The firmware

filename must end in ".bin" and must not match the last filename

that was flashed.

See docs/Config_Reference.md for a description of parameters.```

obtuse maple
#

exactly what i did

#

and to verify it was flashed

#

i changed firmware by firmwarek

red galleon
#

Especially the file name thing is done often wrong

#

How you checked it is flashed?

obtuse maple
#

was a .bin

#

it goes back to "firmware"

#

doesnt matter which name

#

nero 3d did that in his video

#

i did the exact same as him

#

but mine is not working :/

red galleon
#

I do not watch Nero’s videos …

obtuse maple
#

i dont too XD

#

i typed klipper sv06

#

and poof

#

XD

red galleon
#

Only to double check can you open make menuconfig and make a screenshot

obtuse maple
#

okay

red galleon
#

The 250k baude rate was the default popping up?

obtuse maple
#

yes

red galleon
#

Ok hit q and n

#

Then make clean make build and make also a screenshot

obtuse maple
#

okay

red galleon
#

That should not look like that …

obtuse maple
#

huh

red galleon
#

It should rebuild everything

obtuse maple
#

usually just a make is building it

red galleon
#

Oh yeah Mixing tools sorry

obtuse maple
#

np

#

so i do make ?

red galleon
#

Do a make

obtuse maple
#

then i take klipper.bin from the out folder

#

and sd card and flash

red galleon
#

And we do that again and you call it different to last time

obtuse maple
#

okay ill do it 🙂

#

may i change the file name ?

red galleon
#

And yes it is not the first time that we need to reflash boards

obtuse maple
#

np

red galleon
#

Sure use something strange

obtuse maple
#

hmmmm

#

DonaldTrumpKKK.bin

#

XD

red galleon
#

Most do not do the make clean

obtuse maple
#

oh okay

red galleon
#

No please do not use any special char like -

obtuse maple
#

oh okay

#

there i am

red galleon
#

and …

obtuse maple
#

it came back with the name klipper.bin

#

instead of DonaldTrumpKKK

red galleon
#

Ok so it did something …

obtuse maple
#

yes

red galleon
#

And can you connect?

obtuse maple
#

as usual XD

red galleon
#

That can take some moments

#

But let’s check it via ssh

obtuse maple
#

you want to go on a vocal discussion ?

#

so i can share content etc ?

red galleon
#

ls -la /dev/serial/by-id/*

#

Screenshot

obtuse maple
red galleon
#
cd ~/klipper
../klippy-env/bin/python ./klippy/console.py /dev/ttyUSB0```
obtuse maple
#

he doesnt find any folder like those

red galleon
#

Yeah missed the cd klipper

obtuse maple
#

he is still waiting for a responce

red galleon
#

Ok the board does not answer so we still flashed something wrong

obtuse maple
#

okay

#

maybye the crystal clock ?

red galleon
#

I hate the boards with the serial/usb bridge as you can not see it with the id

#

Could be anything now we would really need the board name. Can you see the board label?

obtuse maple
#

lemme go open that for u

#

Tried my best

#

it is the sovol branded board for the sv06

red galleon
#

Ok so we need to believe the Klipper config …

obtuse maple
#

i think so

#

should i try some other usb ports on the computer ?

#

(already did but why not)

#

as we changed couple things

red galleon
#

Sorry was searching if I find any other config but all saying the same. A other usb port will not help as we see the usb chip so that connection is working

obtuse maple
#

np

#

oh okay

red galleon
#

The trouble is behind that chip

obtuse maple
#

oh okay

#

if this info can be useful : it worked with marlin before

#

(i prefer klipper but had to test it stock before going klippy)

red galleon
#

The only info that I find is that the sd card must be smaller than 8GB and FAT16/32 formate but since your file name changes that should be ok

obtuse maple
#

it is a 8gb formated in fat32 with 4096 encoding

#

want me to make it marlin again and reflash klipper ?

#

so that we see the change in live ?

red galleon
#

What Linux distribution is installed on that laptop?

obtuse maple
#

xubuntu i think

red galleon
#

That’s the only thing

obtuse maple
#

it was working perfectly with my sidewinder

#

before i burnt several things on it

red galleon
obtuse maple
#

want me to flash this one ?

red galleon
#

Flash your board with that file

obtuse maple
#

okay

red galleon
#

I will wait for that, but if that not works then I am out of ideas and need to go to bed. My alarm clock is ringing in 6h

obtuse maple
#

thank you for that

#

there were no changes in name

red galleon
#

That sounds not good

obtuse maple
#

idk..

#

ill try calling it firmware.bin

#

as they recommand

red galleon
#

Yeah do that, but

obtuse maple
#

yes

#

the one before was firmwareklipper

#

still not working...

red galleon
#

Than sorry, I will ping you if I have more ideas

obtuse maple
#

okay

#

thank you for your time

#

have a good night and sorry for this

red galleon
#

I am sorry, you still not able to print

obtuse maple
#

ill try to flash marlin in the mean time

#

even marlin is not flashing

obtuse maple
#

apparently, with many test we made on other servers etc, the motherboard appears to be bricked

#

which may be the cause of all the problem

#

as it wasn't flashing the firmwares we were sending

red galleon
#

Not good to here
