#Heightmap suddenly stopped working in most browsers

The heightmap suddenly stopped working in Gecko-based browers (firefox & librewolf) as well as in my desktop browser plasma widget (chromium based).

Error message says WebGL is not supported in the browser but worked fine in all of these just a few hours ago.

It still works in Ungoogled Chromium so not sure whats up considering the browser widget uses the same web engine.

I usually interact with mainsail through the desktop browser widget so would be nice with some clarity on the subject.

Thanks! c:

As Mainsail does’t changed it I would say your browser might get an update …

It happened in three different browsers at the same time though, one of them using a completely different web-engine?

We use the webgl since a long time, your error description also tells clearly that your browser does not support it.

#

As I have no working Glas bowl I am not sure what you did since it worked last time

These browsers support WebGL, the only thing that is different since last time I used them was to power off, sleep for 8 hours and then turn the system on again

#

firefox & librewolf both support webgl.
plasma browser widget is just a qt5 web browser with no frills. qt-web is based on chromium

I tried it on Safari, IE, Chrome all are working fine and again if your browser mentioned that it does not support WebGL than it does not support it

#

Do you using a tablet or mobil where you have problems

#

I did not even know all the browsers you are mentioning…

turbid kelp
#

You never heard of firefox?
...
wow

#

Ok, sandboxed firefox works

sly atlas
#

I know Firefox but I personally would never use it

turbid kelp
#

seems like something is up with the system libraries

sly atlas
#

I meant Gecko …

turbid kelp
#

Gecko is the webengine that firefox runs on

#

the thing that actually renders the html/css/js into a graphical thing

sly atlas
#

Ahh ok not that deep in that kind of topics

turbid kelp
#

all g

#

but yeah, I installed firefox through flatpak as well and both the heightmap and https://webglsamples.org/blob/blob.html
work so something is up with the system libraries that drive stuff installed through the package manager

welcome to the world of linux troubleshooting xo

So I guess we can close it here as you need to sort your browser installation
