I cannot connect to my printer, here is my klippy log,

mcu 'mcu': Unable to connect
Once the underlying issue is corrected, use the
"FIRMWARE_RESTART" command to reset the firmware, reload the
config, and restart the host software.

do you use UART to connect the board?

river junco
#

yes

pulsar jackal
#

do you use mainsailOS or a plain OS and installed via KIAUH?

river junco
#

I have mainsailos

#

it was working and suddenly stopped and checked everything that I could have adjust by mistake but nothing

#

I didnt installed it via kiauh but flashed it by the image from the main site

pulsar jackal
#

what was the last thing you did?

pulsar jackal
river junco
#

the last thing when it suddently stopped is when I touched the head a litle bit and it moved a few mm. I wasnt printing. From that time I couldnt connect but maybe it wasnt that that messed it up

#

I had a connection and do delta calibrations and tried some prints

pulsar jackal
river junco
#

I then add the hold current to the uart settings but anyway I couldnt connect. I already checked again the serial connection with the rpi and the cables

#

but how ?

#

I can flash the original firmware and check the tft 35

pulsar jackal
#

which board do you use?

river junco
#

but tomorrow

#

skr 1.3 v3

pulsar jackal
#

skr 1.3 have a v3 version? can you make a foto?

river junco
#

it was working and did nothing

pulsar jackal
river junco
#

this one

pulsar jackal
#

ah! mini e3. this is no skr 1.3

river junco
#

ah sorry

pulsar jackal
#

ok. you can try to flash it via SDCARD to USB to doublecheck if the board works

river junco
#

I will try tomorrow to flash marlin again and check via the screen yes

#

this motherboard has several protections for that kind of stuff, do u think that maybe could be broke n?

pulsar jackal
#

i hope it isnt broken... but it is possible...

river junco
#

I see

#

any other suggestions for maybe try today ? i will be in 15 hours at home and have tailscale here

pulsar jackal
#

nothing without touching the board itself...

#

you have to plug in a USB cable to check if the board is alive

river junco
#

if I plug a usb how I can tell that it works ?

#

I think that maybe also the usb is not working because when they give me that motherboard I tried to connect the rpi via usb and coulnd thats why I put it via serial

pulsar jackal
#

first test would be lsusb

river junco
#

so maybe its does not work

pulsar jackal
river junco
#

yes but its on usb at first right?

#

its wasnt working so I changed to serial

#

sudo dmesg -wH

#

whats that for?

pulsar jackal
#

without a exect error message i cannot say anything...

river junco
#

I used this command and I could see when I connect and disconnect the usb

pulsar jackal
#

then usb should be fine

river junco
#

but coundn connect

#

anyway, doesnt matter right now, I will check tomorrow and tell u

#

if it does not work what mb do u thing is one of the best with drivers on it

#

2209

pulsar jackal
#

the skr mini e3 v3 should fit fine. i think you have only to flash it with the right firmware settings

river junco
#

but it was working before

pulsar jackal
#

because there was the wrong settings...

river junco
#

what do u mean ? did u find something ? but whats the correct settings?

pulsar jackal
#

in the example klipper config. there are all important settings for make menuconfig

river junco
#

i ckecked that several times and did what the guide has written

#

I checked several other guides and they had the same

#

can u send me the one u saw ?

pulsar jackal
river junco
#

so if u mean # This file contains common pin mappings for the BIGTREETECH SKR mini

E3 v3.0. To use this config, the firmware should be compiled for the

STM32G0B1 with a "8KiB bootloader" and USB communication.

The "make flash" command does not work on the SKR mini E3. Instead,

after running "make", copy the generated "out/klipper.bin" file to a

file named "firmware.bin" on an SD card and then restart the SKR

mini E3 with that SD card.

#

I have done that

pulsar jackal
#

i ask a friend with this board (right now per pn) and he said these settings works... (and he tries it again)

#

but we can try it tomorrow...

river junco
#

I know because they worked for me but maybe its what u said earlier, yes tomorrow

#

thank u

fast flare
river junco
#

so my board does not work

#

and I ordered a new one

#

I put the hold current to my cfg in order not to happen again

pulsar jackal
#

hold current have nothing todo with this

#

what did you checked?

#

and you are sure, that you have a v3 and no v2?

river junco
#

yes its a v3

#

the problem occured when I accidentally touched the head and it moved for 1 cm maybe

#

I had open mainsail on desktop and it closed that same time

#

if I had hold current it couldnt move right ?

pulsar jackal
#

no. you can also move it, when your steppers are off

#

but it is also not recommended to use hold_current, because your printer can lose microstreps when it is switching between run and hold current during the print

river junco
#

So the best is not to use hold current

#

So the hold current is for what reason?

#

I ordered a new motherboard but what if it happen again? I just accidentally move it while it was t doing anything, jyst siting there

#

Only barely 1cm

#

I tried to flash again marlin but it didnt change firmware. Bin so it hasnt flash anything

#

Then again with klipper but the same

#

It didnt touch the firmware file. Tried to reformat the SD but nothing.

#

If I has a v2 it wasnt going to work at the first place right? I also need to check a lot about the schematic and v2 is diferent than v3. V3 has 3 seprare Adjustable fan ports

pulsar jackal
#

v2 needs one pin up in the firmware to enable the usb port. thats the reason why i asked for it.

#

tmc drivers are not only for 3d printers. these are for generic usage. there will we a usecase where hold_current is important, that the steppers can cool down, when they have not to move but are on.

#

you can move the toolhead, but only slow. your steppers will indicate some power to your board and this can damage it

river junco
#

OK, I will check again and tell u with the new one in 20 daysb

pulsar jackal
#

so pls close this post and create a new one, if you need help with the new board.
