tbh i think it's a minecraft problem and not a server problme
When teh lavba gets spawned it makes sound
And that's what makes it lag
Just disable lava sounds

the main reason for the lag is the way they're doing the lighting system/redid it in 1.20
w/each lava level update it has to redo the lighting for 22500 blocks (smaller amount as the game progresses)

yeah we found a small patch for it w/the lr server version staying lower, but conversely it causes newer versions to lag more sometimes

lava rises will continue being a gamemode, its just its a weird edge case with how lighting updates are sent to older versions if the server version is newer
