I suggested this before about a year ago. A possible new mode for lava rises. At the start of y=100 pvp, everyone is assigned a target to kill, and maybe a compass tracking their target's location. If they kill their target, they get some kind of reward like OP gear or minerals, then they are assigned a new target. If a player somehow identifies their own assassin and kills them, then they get a bigger reward. If a player's target dies to another player or natural causes, no reward is given to the 3rd party nor the assassin.

it could be a broken feature, say if you’re in a lobby with noobs and you just kill 1, get a good sword, kill another get like sharp 4 then it’s just grinding kills
it seems easily abusable
maybe the loot on the kill could be based on the LVL
but again it could work
i like the idea of having a set target , but loot could need balancing if it goes down that route

Usually in Lava rises after kill we get a stuff like iron, diamonds or fire resistance potions, it can be changed if u kill the wrong person u will get a dead bush or a couple of blocks or other useless stuff, but if u kill ur target u will get iron or other stuff(maybe even some lucky blocks).
Also considering this mode will likely require a lot more bridging, perhaps cobble and wood are given to players at a faster rate. Either that or players just need to be smart enough to gather plenty of blocks before pvp turns on
