#What is a system?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Systems are groups of people (headmates, sysmates, and/or alters) who share a single body as a result of dissociative disorders.
The person who is actively controlling the body [interacting with you] is fronting, which is why you might see some display names with 'F:' or 'sys:' as prefixes. Individuals who are fronting, especially co-fronting or co-conscious, may sign off with a name, initial, or emoji.
Why are there so many systems in the server?
We often get questions about why there are so many systems in the server. Estimates of the number of systems worldwide vary depending on methodology, sample, and diagnostic interviews, but 1 to 3% is a modest range from different studies.
Despite known safe spaces attracting more minorities, the number of systems (by way of the systems role) is less than 1%.
Are all the systems here diagnosed?
An individual’s health information is private; therefore, we do not retain information on the diagnostic status or diagnoses of our members.
It is inappropriate to ask about a person's diagnosis unless invited. Appropriate action will be taken to protect our members' privacy.
Why do people sign their names on messages?
So you can more easily tell who is speaking if multiple people are fronting or if their name isn’t obvious in their nickname.
What is an introject / what is a fictive or factive?
Introjects are systems members who may resemble real-life people (factives) or characters you see in fiction (fictive)! They are all their own person so please remember to respect them and not just treat them like the person / character you may know.
Are these people role-playing?
No, they are individual people who might just be sourced from the media you know.
