#Playing music out to an older android device

It was suggested I try here so i'm hoping to get some help. I have an old Android device running 8.1 and i'm looking for the best way to stream music to it. I have tried installed squeezelite 6.0 through F-Droid but it keeps on saying the player has Stopped. i'm not sure how to troubleshoot at this point. My backend is a virtural HAOS instance running the music assistant add in. I have installed another windows based squeezelite player on another machine and it does show up and is playable to so the backend seems to be ok.

What i'm trying to do is use this phone as a speaker connected to a small dumb amplifier powering a set of hardwired outside speakers. Looking for any alternatives.

Maybe the upcoming android app will bring this functionality ? If you are on the beta, you can test if the new sendspin player (which is now built in to our frontend) works on this old android version.

ok so installed snapcast and setup the muisc assistant player provider, it at least sees the phone and is able to play to it now. not sure If I fully understand the pros and cons to each of the player provider options along with their supporting apps. I suppose each is more taylored to hardware solutions to play to instead of this android multiple app option i'm trying to accomplish here.
