Node runtime in Middleware

Hey, from end of 2024 I've been seeing threads and discussions about the possibility of using the node runtime instead of the edge runtime.
I've also seen people from Next saying its being developed but do we have an estimate on when this could be introduced in Next? It's a big pain point for us and would like to move forward asap not having to use fetch for database calls.
