#Alternates to 2x WP

Are there use cases where it's better to run anything other than 2x WP?

I've tested:
S5 WP + S5 WP
S5 BS + S5 WP
S3 DG + S5 WP
S5 BS + S5 BS

There was no combination of pet that I could find that would outweigh what we get with the 2x WP - purely due to the way we scale with strength and the fact that Pixie Nova's DOT is 2000% of p.atk

It's such a shame that BS isn't a better option, or at least comparable to running an extra WP

Devildom, vulcanus you can use other pets and it can be better because you don't have to wait for the pixie novas deal damages

In SF I'm using DG ou BS + WP to have several damage sources

I think it's disingenuous to recommend something other than dual WP. BM is already the worst of the 3 pet classes for damage. The best damaging pet in the game is the WP. It stands to reason that 2 of them would be better than anything.

Your use case is incredibly rare. There are no DPs on Devil Skeleton, the server Birdy plays on. He is more than likely farming DD and Vulcanus. You might even be the only BM worldwide that insists on contributing to damage in a DP. Most BMs are buffslaves.

My suggestion to you Birdy is this : Understand that BM is not in a good state right now compared to the other 2 pet classes. There's a low ceiling with BM and so if you enjoy the class just accept that it has limitations.

I completely understand the limit and cost in comparison to OL/MB, but the playstyle is the best of the three, so I will persist.

Unfortunately, there's also the least information of the pet classes for BM. I'm sure there's other people out there that are interested in the playstyle and want to try to min max their resources, so there's no harm in asking these questions.

No harm in asking for sure. There are only a few people that know what they are talking about so that’s why you can’t find much info on BM

I think the real problem is within how harmony works, and the fact that the average player is going to hit their damage ceiling a lot faster than the whales.

The difference between a s5 tank and a s5 DG is 1000 raw strength.. But then the damage of a 2.5t s5 DG is less than a 40b WP? So you end up holding a pet that is essentially worthless except for other BMs.

They need a class balance as well as a balance of Hector and DG to make them more viable than a WP 😭

It's been a while since i've been a BM but I remember the difference between a s5 unique and a s5 DG being absolutely massive for everything. I'm fairly confident it was more than just 1000 strength

4 years ago, use harmony on S5 DG instead of S5 pet tank gave me the same boost as full strength/vitality consumables

I've been running BS/WP for a week or two now, basically because of laziness, but I can see some pros and cons:

Pros:
Higher leech from BS as main pet summon gives you more Strength
BS unity better than WP unity
Easy to hold threat off WP
Higher CP

Cons:
Damage sucks so much, it's not even comparable

@reef matrix have you ever tried Hector as main summon on BM? Might be interesting with the way Int to Str and Str to Int passive works on it, as well as getting m.atk as a % of max mana

Most of the skills are combo p.atk and m.atk so I'm not sure if that's going to be better than a WP having one or the other

On devil monters from devildom 6 with devil belt and necklace but without lunacy :

  • pneuma deal around 70% hp
  • tetra element around 40-50%
  • other skills are just too bad

Damn okay, I mean it's okay but it's not great. The surprising thing (or not surprising I guess) is that the 25% int passive doesn't look like it applies here correctly? Your Hector should have at least 6k int purely from the passive but has less than 4k including green stats :/

I've also been trying out Crystal Spider/WP in SF with some pretty good results.. the debuffs boosting WP's nova is great and the extra healing makes it feel a lot safer with lower gear (than you, still +25 boots etc 😭)

With the OL and MB it OS rooms, except in the last dungeons where the game is forced to cap damage at a certain amount (unattainable with the BM)
