Does placement in formation matter for Potency? If Im using EP + CG for instance, does it matter which slot they are slotted into, or do I need to have EP in 1 and CG in 2?

Yes order matters. The passive goes off the main slots stats. So you want EP in first slot and if you were using a physical build with golem and wind pixie you'd want golem in first slot.

Potency increases p atk according to your first slot pet's hp, that's why you should put cg as first pet and build max hp gears, vitality stones. There is an unique sword and shield that gives % max hp, boar ring gives max hp and vit, the rest are a reviac warrior armor with vit stones, preferably vit and max hp random effects. And a belt.
