I don’t think we ever got an explanation in the game for exactly what these are, but they look nothing less than a torture device.
Does anyone have a screen shot of a moment in the game where someone explains what these are?
Is there a side quest I’m unaware of?

That's an iron maiden (wooden maiden??) and it is indeed a medieval torture device, but it's nothing special in Legacy. It's just there as another strange old artefact cluttering up Hogwarts.

Soooo they would torture students at Hogwarts in these times? Filch would’ve been pleased. Concerning is the red marks inside many of them.

They're not in use anymore obviously, but yeah, I think it's safe to say that in the olden times they were used for punishment. Or maybe that one is/was enchanted in some way and the school acquired it somehow.
