Why is it that your colourblind "mode" just mimics for regular sight seers what a colourblind person would see, instead of this option actually helping people with colourblindness? What is the point of having this in the accessibility, if it's not helping colour blind users?
Most "Colourblind modes" are to help the said person with colourblindness with the ability to aid their deficiency.

Because I was under the impression that the mimicry was just to help colourblind users match the mode to their type, and that it helped in other ways such as tone shifting or adding textures

No, it's mimicking the color blindness itself for regular folks. Not very helpful unfortunately.
It's not a deal breaker, but some night time quests are a bit difficult. I found upping the image gamma helped during those events.
