Gear slots and Merlin trials

Hi all, I just discovered that we can keep an equipped item’s traits but “change appearance” to make it look like anything we’ve ever collected.
So a weird looking hat with high defense can be equipped but can be made to look like a nicer hat.
My question is then does that mean we can just keep the highest level item and just sell everything else? I hate doing the Merlin trials so this would be ideal, cos I’m constantly running out of gear slots. Am I missing anything? Thanks in advance

Yes, you can just keep your best gear and sell the rest.

Ah crap, I just got the loom and can upgrade clothes. I guess I do need to save some gear after all

Yeah. Even if you're just going to turn around and sell it, having spare gear to upgrade is useful for completing the challenges faster.

Question.. should I keep clothes based on the offense/defense number or the clothing level

The 18 is the clothing level right?

Should I be ignoring these “legendary” “well appointed” descriptions cos it doesn’t seem to make sense

low level legendary gear can be sold but towards the end, when you've collected most of the lv3 traits, it's the only gear you need

While you're leveling just keep those with the highest offence/defence ratings, you can worry about maxing once capped (though it's not really necessary either at that point)
