As it says on the tin, I've restarted everything, made extra storage space on my memory, short of re-downloading the entire game one more time. It's been stuck on the language selection page for an hour last I checked.
Does anyone have any tips so I can actually PLAY this game?

I've figured it out. Uninstall and reinstall. The menu will look different. And then make sure you wiggle your left analog stick before you press A to select.
