So, I want to ask…. My gf logged into my PC now. (I also have the game btw). But it says cloud sync out of sync or whatever it is. It said that it’s because she played last time on march 12 (where she did like 5 hours in the game, at her own PC). Now, I tried retry sync, but then when we opened the game after (via Play anyway, since it still said there was that issue) on my PC the save that it downloaded was not at the level or progress she had gotten to on her own PC. Does this mean that the progress will have gotten lost on her PC as well now??? Or is the local save there still at that level? Plus why wouldn’t it even have uploaded that progress from her own PC to begin with?????? She is so scared that it has been deleted/reverted/changed…..
#Scared that GF lost game save progress. please help?

If you have enabled Steam Cloud it will automatically Sync there. That means both save files will be saved. Worst case if the save file doesn't appear directly on your game, you will be able to manipulate the files from the cloud to get the save back. But let me try and and aswer some of the questions directly:
Does this mean that the progress will have gotten lost on her PC as well now??? -> Absolutely not
Or is the local save there still at that level? Yep still at that level, else the steamcloud will have the file
Easiest way to solve the issue is manually sending the save files from her PC and Steam profile, then pasting them in her save folder on your computer. That should fix everything.
My girlfriend could barely run the game on her PC, so we did just that above, and the could continue on my PC just fine.
It was enabled, the synced files were wrong on my PC while they apparently was the same on her second pc. At home a few days ago that is. Why might this be?
So, the local files are still intact? On her PC?
I dont think it drags the files from cloud back down to the pc, only the other way around.
They should be, if that's where she's been playing from last.
You should be able to get the save file back down from the cloud to whichever computer you prefer.
The files will be in %appdata%/local/Hogwarts Legacy/<User number>
I agree that the best way is to transfer directly from local file. But I just find it odd that on my PC - specifically - it wouldn’t download up to date save files from her cloud saves?
The fact it could even download anything tells me that it is enabled on her own.
I agree that it's odd, but weird things can happen and bug rarely.
Also, she seems to think it will be a big hassle and take a way longer time to so the direct transfer thing.
Why? It's like 5 MB of data...
I doubt that, but I’m the tech savvy of the two of us.
We just have a bit of a communication issue I think…
I mean, I had my save file corrupt after 35 hours of gameplay where it simply dissapeared. ^^ without switching computer 🙂
Wtf…. Lol.
I believe the flow of traffic with the save files go from Pc --> cloud <--- other pc
