ancient magic Hotspot early in the game?

I am early in the game and am on my way to talk to Helen thislewood in upper hogsfield. I came across this ruin that has ancient magic interact so I started the puzzle, but I haven't seen it mentioned at all in the game and it seems really random compared to what else I have encountered so far. I started looking it up and it says the ancient magic Hotspots are related to the Percival Rockham trials which sound like they're much later in the game than I am. Is this going to mess up my game?

if you are talking about one of the ancient magic hotspot scattered around the world, you interact with the thing on the ground, then theres three ancient magic things scattered in the area, when you first interact, you will see three blue lines moving away from you, you follow those and it will lead you to each one, the orbs that you have to find will also show up after you use revelio, as blue orbs of sorts

Yeah, but there was no introduction to it, and all the guides I looked up said they would become available after starting a quest called Percival rackhams trials

I haven't done that yet, should they be showing up? Did I mess up the quest by doing one before the quest was active?

i doubt you messed it up, like you can do pretty much anything straight away, as long as you have the right spell and access to the whole world, the trials are during the main story, you find the map chamber and he's one of the portraits

I've gone into the restricted section of the library but haven't found the missing pages of the book yet

ok, so you aint really much into it, yeah just take yo time, my first playthrough i'm like 3/4 way through, didn't finish it yet before starting another character, and it took me like 24 hours total, so just take yo time, take in the world, explore, etc, just be careful where you choose to venture, some places are more difficult than others, like if you don't have powerful enough gear or spells, it can be really tough

Yeah but the guides I was reading said these hotspots shouldn't show up unless a certain quest was active, which I don't have yet. Thats why I'm confused

I just figured like the merlin trials and stuff that there would be some kind of introduction to what it is and why to do it and idk it just seems like I missed something

Not yet. Ancient magics hotspot just reload the bar of ancient magic and if you did some of them, increase the amount of

I can confirm you will come across a dedicated quest shortly after the second trial that grants access to additional sites.
