i think honestly it's not down to the individuals in slytherin but down to the fact the morals of the dark wizards just tend to coincide with what slytherin wants. ambition is NOT a bad thing, but evil people tend to have ambition for power and that is usually a road that leads to corruption.

every character went to the house they belonged to because ultimately it was their choice, and the sorting hat explicitly counts that. if you really feel that strongly that you want to be in a house, then i think it's pretty clear you belong there lmao.
