The Xbox screenshots don't work for some reason. Had someone bring this up to me once. The only workaround for this is to access naraka through PC (windows store version) and get the qr code through there

Hmm I see, then it's most likely because the resolution of the qr is too low and it's blurry, and it can't be read. Maybe ask the author if they can retake the screenshot but crop the barcode so it won't get compressed

Go to the "game feedback pool" and scroll to the the end of July 12th to give my submission an upvote. It could be a quick bandaid to this issue. Hopefully the devs notice that submission and decide to implement it.

Feedback: Solution to console players not being able to use character QR codes

Explanation: The companion app should have a feature where you can upload a character-QR-code and it translates it to a list of numbers/values that represent each slider. The code already exists to translate the QR-code into sliders in-game. This feature on the companion app would allow console players to see all the sliders from a QR code, then they would just have to manually adjust their sliders in-game to match the sliders on the companion app.

I definitely think lighting makes a difference. My character seems to only have facial texture at certain angles. Plus freckles are under tatoos and makeup instead of beauty marks so that limits it a bit too.
